Inspiration

Alice and Gavin can usually be seen on the stage in London's West End performing in hit shows such as Wicked and Tina Turner The Musical. But, they swapped the stage and bright lights for an outdoor wedding in Umbria, Italy with gorgeous scenery, rustic decor and a bright red, white and green colour scheme.

What Made Our Day Unique

We drove over in a van two days before our wedding in Umbria. Taking tings like a copper barrel (made by my dad for beer to be put in during day) and copper corks for the table name settings. We hired authentic Italian musicians which made a huge difference (still had songs we all knew but mixed in with traditional Italian music). Rustic areas of decoration (wooden crates, wheelbarrow, Chalk Boards etc) to set scene and keep within style of the villa.

Wedding in Umbria

Although Alice and Gavin were getting married abroad and enlisted the help of a wedding planner, they still wanted to put their stamp on their wedding in Umbria and incorporate some DIY elements. Copper quickly became a running theme, using a copper stand for the seating plan and photo booth, and also using copper to hang the menu cards on the reception tables. They also spray painted and an old beer barrel cooper and Alice's dad made a chalkboard sign. All of these personal projects made the day unique to them and looked divine at the Italian wedding venue.

Inspiration & Styling

Wanted the decor to link to the setting. Being outdoor in the middle of Umbria we needed vibrant colours, rustic styling. I chose, raspberry red and copper. Copper cutlery, copper table name stands. Copper writing on stationery. Then raspberry table runners, red, pink raspberry flowers intertwined with white and plenty of greenery to keep the rural style. Crates dotted everywhere for decoration. I scoured Etsy and Pinterest. Worked out what I needed, then searched online for everything. Certain aspects I relied on our planner Marco as he had many Italian connections.

Alice & Gavin
Like many brides and grooms, Alice and Gavin were meticulous when it came to planning and knew exactly how they wanted things to go on their big day. But although they planned and planned, sometimes... just sometimes, you get so caught up in the day you forget to do things, or they don't quite go as you'd planned. Turns out Alice didn't care one bit, and it didn't affect her wedding in Umbria in the slightest. She still had the most amazing time.
