FAQS

What is a 'dry hire' venue?

A dry hire venue is a blank canvas that gives you the freedom to handpick your suppliers and decor to suit your unique style, taste and budget. The potential is off the charts when the only limitation is your imagination. We are happy to give recommendations, but there are no restrictions on what you choose.

How long do we have the venue for?

We are a 3 day hire venue with weddings on Saturday or Thursdays. If you'd like an alternative day, then just ask and we will do our best to accommodate it! For a Saturday wedding the venue is exclusively yours from 10am on Friday until 2pm on Sunday. This allows ample time to get set up on Friday and for you to clear away on Sunday. If you like, you can even have your guests back for an after party on the Sunday! For a Wednesday wedding the venue will be exclusively yours from 10am on Tuesday until 12pm on Thursday. This allows ample time to get set up on Wednesday and for you to clear away on Thursday.

How many guests can I have?

We can accommodate up to 120 guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast and up to 150 guests for your evening reception.

What are the options for guest accommodation?

From 2024 the venue hire will include The Glamping Pod honeymoon suite as overnight accommodation for the couple. For your guests the historic market town of Shrewsbury only 5 miles away, there are lots of great options in the area for a range of budgets. The Paddock can also be used for complementary camping and we can suggest bell tent suppliers to take the hassle of camping away!

What's included in the venue hire?

As well as exclusive use of all of our indoor and outdoor areas, the venue hire also includes the on-site ceremony fee, ceremony and dining furniture and The Glamping Pod honeymoon suite (from 2024).

Do you charge a corkage fee?

No, we do not charge for corkage. A 'corkage charge' is a fee that a venue can charge customers who bring their own wine or other alcoholic drinks to their venue.

What time can the party go on until?

For a weekend wedding music can be played until midnight and the premises vacated by all guests by 12.30am. For a midweek wedding music can be played until 11.30pm and the premises vacated by all guests by midnight.

Testimonials

Cannot fault our experience of Moat Hall Barns so far. Amy has been really understanding and helpful with answering our queries. We have visited a couple of times and seen the progress of the renovation, it is going to be a beautiful venue when completed.

We are so excited to get married here. Amy has such a vision for this venue. The main barn will be perfect for our reception and the option of having our ceremony outside or in the hayloft is just magical! We can't wait to see what it looks like finished!!

Amy gave us a great tour of Moat Hall Barns during its renovation phase in September - she was able to share her vision and plans with us for how the final venue is going to look! So far, we can see that all of the work and effort being put into the project is of a high standard and that she's even thought of the little things that will make a big difference to the final piece - from restoring old quirky parts of the building/farm and keeping them visible, to having underfloor heating laid and a large luxury toilet cubicle for the bride (and bridesmaids!) to squeeze into with a big dress!! We know the finished project is going to look amazing and can't wait to have our wedding here next year!!! Amy has been great at keeping in touch with us and updating us along the way - we feel we can put our trust in her to deliver a fabulous wedding venue!

Moat Hall Barns was our first viewed venue and it met all of our requirements that nothing else came close! The main barn will be so beautiful when completed and the grounds will cater for our 'Al fresco' plans perfectly. We can't wait to get married here next July!

Choosing a wedding venue has been a journey. We have been looking for the perfect Shropshire based farm/barn wedding venue for over 5 years. We wanted a venue that had a rustic, festival and intimate vibe and had to be based in Shrewsbury, Telford or Bridgnorth. We came across Moat Hall Barns, met with Ben and Amy, and completely fell in love with the potential of this barn wedding venue. We have finally found the venue of our dreams and it is currently being built. A lot of trust is being put in Ben and Amy and we know they will absolutely deliver.
