Can we use our own caterers?
We have a preferred list of caterers that we would encourage you to use for you event, they will have worked at the venue on multiple occasions. We can however be flexible if you have specific supplier in mind and would be happy to work with caterers of your choice for your event. The Great Barn offers a finishing kitchen only, all preparation and cooking must be done off site or in a mobile kitchen in our outdoor space at the rear of the venue. Please note that coal and wood burning fires are not permitted and must be gas or electric only. Your Event Co-ordinator will liaise with your chosen caterer to ensure all arrangements run smoothly and that we receive the necessary risk assessment, food hygiene certificate and public liability insurance documents.
Do you charge corkage?
We do not charge corkage so you are able to bring in your own alcohol or bar supplier without any additional fees. You will need to source glassware and staffing through your caterers or we can recommend an external company for this. They will have access to our bar fridges, use of our ice machine and glass dishwasher.
Is parking available?
Our discreetly positioned parking ensures that none of your event photographs feature a car park in the background and can accommodate up to 138 cars with 10 disabled parking bays. Please note, the car park is also used by the general public and, unfortunately, we cannot offer reserved spaces. The wedding car is allowed to be on the museum grounds for drop off, photographic opportunities and pick up only.
Are candles/confetti/helium balloons/fireworks allowed?
We do allow candles as long as there is no open flame and the candle sits within a suitable holder. Due to the height of the barn we do not allow helium balloons. However, many suppliers can provide balloon displays that do not require helium. We are happy for your guests to use confetti but ask that it is fully biodegradable. Unfortunately, fireworks are not permitted on the site.
We booked this venue for our Wedding. I knew from the moment I walked in that this would be it! I’m so incredibly happy that this was the chosen venue as we had the best day! Laura our events manager was absolutely amazing from start to finish, words can not even describe how thankful and grateful we are. The service was amazing, Laura always answered our calls/messages, provided guidance/recommendations and the list is endless… I would highly recommend The Great Barn for any events, it’s such a special venue ????
I couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue, from the place to the staff. I had my civil ceremony and reception there and it was the most relaxed environment for our wedding party and our guests. It is perfect for rustic, boho-chic weddings! I had 150 guests with a buffet dinner and there was plenty of space to move around with a large dance floor, too. The bridal room is also quite generous and it's lovely to have as a storage/wind-down area. A huge shout-out to my events manager, Laura, for making our day so perfect :)
We initially booked our wedding at the great barn in 2019 for 2020, unfortunately Covid got in the way and we had to postpone our wedding twice. The Great Barn were very accommodating and helpful when it came to rearranging dates. As we started to approach our third wedding date, The Great Barn allocated Gabriela as our wedding coordinator. When we first met Gabriela, we instantly knew we couldn't have had a better planner. She was absolutely amazing in helping us plan our special day. Anything we asked, she was able to come back to us very quickly with the answer, provided great ideas and was always there for us with all our questions and help at any time of the day. Leading up to the day I was always calling Gabriela in a panic as I was worried I had forgotten something, but she kept me calm and ensured me everything was under control. Gabriela was there early on the day and had already set up the things the Barn was providing which put me at ease when I first arrived. She had a copy of our itinerary and helped everything run smoothly from start to end. We couldn't have asked for a better wedding coordinator and would 100% recommend the Great Barn a a wedding venue to anyone who's looking.
Where do I begin?? We had our Indian wedding here, and everything was perfect! Laura from Team TGB was absolutely awesome to deal with, so calm, patient and diligent in everything she did for us, whether it was comms in the lead up to the event (we only started planning in Jan!!) to the execution on the day. She managed everything with Gabby on the day so perfectly and was happy to help with anything. Thank you so much for making our day so special and looking after everything with such warmth!
Honestly our wedding day couldn't have been any better at this beautiful venue! Such a memorable day with all our loving friends and family!! I can not thank the amazing wedding team for giving us the wedding of our dreams!! Everything on the day planned out just as how we wanted and we received endless compliments of how the wedding turned out!! All we got from our guests was "what a beautiful venue, vey unique to the weddings we have been to" Once again thank you soooo much for bringing our vision of our civil wedding and reception to life!! Still get goosebumps looking at all the videos and pictures taken on the day!!
