Inspiration

Down tools, dear readers, for this one-of-a-kind wedding venue deserves maximum attention. Boasting wildflower meadows, a wildlife corridor that is simply perfect for a wedding procession and a unique range of eco buildings and accommodation, The Sychpwll Centre truly is a wedding wonderland - and Debbie & Seb really do make the most of it with their magical yurt wedding. From the gorgeous naked tipi, made by the mother of the bride out of bamboo and greenery, to the glitter station that saw even the older guests getting involved, this special celebration is filled with fun, love and endless laughter, not to mention fierce bridal party fashion in the form of a crochet Made With Love wedding dress and pretty mismatched peach bridesmaids from RMW recommended retailer Rewritten.

The Vibe Of Our Day

We were living abroad at the time of our wedding so had a big decision to make: hold the wedding in Asia with its guaranteed sun, or head back home to the more unpredictable Welsh weather. The influencing factor in the end was Seb’s family home, Sychpwll, a venue that holds a limited number of weddings and events each year. It’s a big site, full of wildlife and fantastic views, and we were free to design everything exactly as we wanted and choose the suppliers that we liked the look of. We also wanted to have a BBQ and party the next day, so having the space for people to stay on site was ideal for us.

Yurt Wedding

Yurts may still be a lesser-known sibling to traditional marquees and tipis, but oh boy, I'm hoping to see many more yurt weddings in the months to come. I don't know about you, but I can't get over how elegant the structure is: it retains the rustic feel of a tipi whilst channelling the more formal feel of a marquee. And is it me, or does it also have a slightly ballroom-esque appearance? A wonderful space to tuck into your wedding breakfast before boogying the night away.

Favourite Moment Of Our Day

The speeches were definitely a highlight for us. Everyone absolutely nailed it. My mum’s speech was perfect and there were a lot of tears. My husband dedicated his speech to trying to make me cry, which he succeeded to do within 1 minute and everyone applauded. So many of our guests said that his speech was the best groom’s speech they had ever heard. The best man’s speech was hilarious and had the whole yurt crying with laughter.
