Inspiration

After postponing their original date, Emma (in her stunning backless cowl neck wedding dress!) and Charlie tied the knot with 25 of their closest friends and family back in September 2020. The glorious sunshine made the Brickhouse Vineyard in Exeter look like it was straight out of the Tuscan hillside. We're also loving how Emma and Charlie repurposed their incredible aisle decor for more shots outside. And it was all captured so very well by Rock My Wedding Recommended Supplier, Paige Grace Photography.

A stunning backless cowl neck wedding dress for a vineyard wedding in Exter.

Because we had been in lockdown for the majority of the summer we hadn’t been able to see many of our friends and family, the circumstances made us appreciate simply being together and sharing memories so much more. It made the day even more magical in that way. The weather was absolutely perfect, it was as if we were in an Italian Vineyard!

Emma & Charlie

A quietly romantic intimate wedding

We wanted the day to be as relaxed and quietly romantic as possible, with a simplistic bohemian feel. As the venue had such a lovely space with naked brick walls and lovely wood beams we didn’t need much in the way of decor, putting the most emphasis on the florals - we had a beautiful hexagon floral arch to get married beneath.

Wedding ceremony music and readings

Due to COVID restrictions, we didn’t have a lot of time for readings/speeches so we kept it to a minimum. For our aisle song, we had Paper kites - bloom. For the signing of the register we had Intentions (acoustic) - Justin Bieber, and then Fatboy slim - praise you, for our walk out together and throwing of the confetti.

Surprisingly, our favourite moment of the wedding day was when we said our vows to each other.

We had made the decision to write our own vows to each other, but as we are both fairly shy we were super anxious for this moment in the lead up to the wedding. Despite the nerves, it was the best decision as neither of us will ever forget that moment, it felt so intimate and romantic.

Don’t lose sight of the real reasons you’re getting married and planning this celebration! A lot can get lost in the planning and the weight of expectations from others, but on the day all that matters is that you and your partner are happy and can truly enjoy your day. This year has proven that ultimately we can’t control much beyond ourselves - there may be things that don’t go to plan but it’s so important to fully enjoy the precious moments that are most important.

Those shots of the back of Emma's Grace Loves Lace backless cowl neck wedding dress though! We love the lace-up detail. Are you planning on writing your own wedding vows? It's such a special part of the day and often one that couples look back on as their favourite. If you love hexagonal decor you can find more inspiration for that in some of the articles below.
