Inspiration

Katherine and Matthew's wedding photos by Sarah Legge will put a big smile on your face - there's just so much joy and happiness, it's totally infectious. We always love a peach colour scheme and this pair have only gone and included actual real life peaches in their wedding decor! Such a cute idea. Combined with the pale blue table linen too - it's all just so gorgeous. Their light and airy venue, Millbridge Court is such a fantastic space, and when filled with sunshine like in these images, it looks like a lovely place to celebrate your marriage with friends and family. And finally, I love that Katherine sourced a second hand dress via Preloved because she wanted to spend their budget on other things - you'd never guess her dress wasn't made for her and it just goes to show - it's YOUR wedding, so you spend your money on what makes YOU happy, and that will show in the photos :)

The Day

Katherine The Bride: If I had to sum up our wedding day; for me it would be fun and relaxed...which was entirely our aim when planning the day. Matt and I have been together for nearly 8 years so all our friends and family know each other well and have known us as a couple for a long time which just made for such a fantastic atmosphere. We are so very grateful to all our lovely guests for making the day so amazing for us both! We had a blast! We’re not a very “traditional” couple so there were lots of different and fun elements to the day, a gin cocktail drinks reception, the bride making a speech, the Mother of the Bride making an evening toast, a cheese tower instead of a wedding cake, and a high energy first dance routine! We also wanted to have plenty of personal touches on the day so DIY’d as much as we were able to. All the wedding stationery, a giant polaroid frame station and a “tips for the newlyweds” and “date night idea” jars for the guests to leave us personal messages.

The Bride

I always knew I didn’t want to spend a huge amount of money on my wedding dress (I was far more concerned about ensuring a healthy drinks budget!) so I was absolutely determined to pick up a bargain. After trying on a few dresses in bridal shops I had a clear idea of the style I wanted, so then trawled second hand dress sites looking for potential options. I eventually found the dress on Preloved and it was just what I was after. I felt incredibly comfortable and relaxed on the day and, having not spent a fortune, wasn’t worried about dancing like a maniac in the evening! Jo from Lovehair & Co was recommended to me by a friend, and from the minute I met her I knew she totally understood the look I was going for. We went for a glam, red carpet up-do with dramatic, smoky eye make-up, which was spot on with the dress, and style of the day. She also did a brilliant job on my bridesmaids who all went for a relaxed half up half down style accessorised with pearl hair pins and looked totally gorgeous!

The Groom

The suit Matt wore for our wedding was actually my engagement present to him. For someone who has to wear a suit every day, I wanted him to have something slightly more special. We ordered the suit through Reiss’ personal tailoring service, so were able to pick every single element of the suit as well as have it perfectly fitted for him. Topped off with a pocket square and a puppytooth tie...he looked incredibly handsome!

The Venue

Millbridge Court is a brand new wedding venue which we booked before it had been built! They have thought of EVERYTHING you could possibly need...a bride’s absolute dream! The setting is perfect, the layout incredibly well thought through, and every single detail and element has been considered. We had both our ceremony and reception at Millbridge, myself and the bridesmaids got ready there on the morning in the incredible bridal suite, and our family stayed in the hotel rooms on site afterwards. We basically didn’t want to leave! In addition to the wonderful venue, the team at Millbridge Court, managed by Laura, are just fantastic! They could not have done more for us. Everything they touch turns to beautiful so I was completely confident that our wedding was in the best possible hands, and absolutely loved the whole planning process with them. We honestly could not have chosen a better venue for our wedding day.

The Flowers

I didn’t realise quite how important the wedding flowers were to me until I met Kate. She is simply amazing at what she does, and so lovely to work with too. I immediately knew she wouldn’t only be able to bring my vision to life...she’d make it a million times better. We wanted a very natural and neutral colour palette with an autumnal feel, as the wedding was in October, and Kate absolutely delivered that and more. EVERYONE commented on the table centrepieces, the bouquets and all the other little styling elements on the day. What was even better was that we were able to give the centrepieces as gifts to some of the family / guests so the flowers were enjoyed long after the day too!

The Bridesmaids

I’d always really liked the multi-way bridesmaid dresses, and found these pale silver ones in the BHS sale. The second the girls tried them on I knew they were perfect. They looked absolutely beautiful in them and were all really happy and comfortable. Obviously helped having three gorgeous bridesmaids who were always going to look amazing!

The Food

Food is hugely important to both of us, so Kalm Kitchen being partnered with Millbridge Court was an absolute WIN. Their reputation preceded them and we quickly saw why. The team, led by Jen, were simply fantastic from the minute we first met them, listening carefully to everything we wanted and providing advice and guidance throughout. The food was delicious, the presentation beautiful, and the staff and service were just beyond brilliant. I only hope we get the chance to go to another wedding catered by Kalm so we can experience it all again!

The Photography

We could not recommend Sarah Legge more highly. She so perfectly captured our day, meaning we can re-live every moment each time we go through the photos. Her pictures are just beautiful – lively, colourful and fun. Even more than that – we absolutely loved having her there on the day, as did all of our guests! Neither of us are huge fans of having our picture taken, and also didn’t want to spend too much time away from the wedding having our line ups and couple shots taken. Sarah was incredible, not only did she swiftly organise and whizz through all the snaps we had asked for, she was snapping away from start to finish, capturing the atmosphere and details just brilliantly.
