Inspiration

Polly & Stevie’s wedding in Lila’s Wood has seriously got us feeling as though we’ve stepped right into a woodland fairytale! Now, without tooting our own horn, the couple may have seen a wedding day take place at Lila’s Wood, and felt a little inspired. Both being lovers of the outdoors, nature was the centrepiece of their day, influencing the styling and vibe. The bridesmaids chose the style of dress they preferred, the groomsmen didn’t wear suits, and there was no seating plan for dinner! We just love how utterly stylish and yet cosy this day feels, complete with a coffee truck, outdoor bar and gin bottles lining the tables! If you’re looking for a little outdoor wedding inspiration, then this is for you. Shoutout to Recommended Supplier, Jason Mark Harris Photography, for all the incredible captures.

Lila’s Wood wedding complete with rustic and relaxed vibe

Having everyone together in such a beautiful, relaxed environment was truly the best day of our lives. A memory we feel very lucky to have.

There was another beautiful wedding that had taken place at Lila's Wood previously which had featured on Rock My Wedding - that helped us find our amazing photographer, Jason, and also the wonderful Joules of Willow & Thyme for our flowers. As we were organising everything from NZ, we did have some invaluable help from a UK-based family - among others! My sister found Laura to sing for us (with the voice of an angel!) My mum and stepdad recruited a very talented family member to make our cakes.

FAVOURITE MOMENT

We were both surprised by how much we enjoyed our ceremony. We're not usually ones for the limelight, but our fabulous celebrant, Kirsty, just seemed to completely get us. There was beautiful acoustic singing from Laura, lots of laughter and a lovely reading from Stevie's 11-year-old niece, Peyton. I clearly remember standing in front of everyone with Stevie, the sunlight streaming through the trees and birds singing and thinking I wouldn't want it any other way. Someone must have been looking down on us as it had done nothing but rain for days beforehand!

A fairy light curtain for those evening pictures? Always a good idea.

It was worth investing time finding and speaking with suppliers where we could see a range of their previous work and loved everything they had done. This meant we could relax in the knowledge that we would also love whatever they did for us, without having to give a huge amount of guidance. It took me a long time, for example, to find a hair and makeup artist that would lean towards a more natural look. But when I came across Charlotte (after having seen a friend's wedding photos on Facebook), I knew that she was the one!
