the Dress
Lucy the Bride: I wasn’t the typical bride where I dreamt of the dream dress, I found dress shopping stressful and didn't like any of the traditional white wedding gowns. I knew I wanted a dress for
Watters after trawling many beautiful Instagram accounts and blogs, I stalked out a London
boutique who stocked the brand and found the dress on my 1st visit (hungover the day after my birthday conveniently) – I did agonise over choosing this dress for months after my 1st fitting, had I made the right choice, is Dan going to like it, is the rose gold lining too dark. Only on my final fitting did I finally feel I had made the right choice, seeing it when it was made to fit me made all the difference and I fell in love with it.
Beauty
My Hair was by the lovely
Kara Scott and my make up by
Irene MUA, I have no idea how she managed to make my make up look so flawless and last all day but she is a genius.
Accessories
Dan bought me some amazing Rose Gold diamond earrings which I opened the night before the wedding, they went perfectly with my Rose Gold Diamond wedding band.
I actually found my shoess in the sale online at
Reiss – I didn’t want a classic wedding shoe and I wanted to find a pair of shoes I would wear again, I loved the gold caging element on these. I changed into some Nike’s later ensuring I stayed on the dance floor all night.
Caterer
We didn’t get the chance to taste our food before the big day as the venue buy in the food for the wedding. We couldn’t have been happier with our choices, the food was outstanding and all of our guests absolutely loved every element.
Bridesmaids Dresses
I wanted the girls to wear dresses that aren’t your traditional bridesmaid style, I wanted them to feel relaxed and happy, I got the dresses and the faux fur scarves from
ASOS. I am so glad I decided to get them the scarves as it was pretty chilly.
Groom/Groomsmen
ASOS suits. We wanted these to tie in with our cream and navy theme so it was important to us that we got the right shade of navy, we loved the textured ties too as they bring a slightly different element to a standard tie. The groomsmen all chose their own brown brogues and to compliment these Dan selected pink socks from the
London Sock Company.
Entertainment
Dan and I thought the music element of the day was so important so much so we blew a big part of our budget on this, we chose
Jess Avison to play the acoustic guitar during the ceremony and the reception. She played bittersweet symphony when I walked down the aisle which really set the mood and the emotion in the room. Jess was Amazing.
Livewire were our band in evening and they were perfect, we wanted a band to get everyone on the dance floor all night and thats exactly what they did. Both artists were sought through AMV Live.
Transport
My Dad being a keen car enthusiast wanted to drive me in his vintage Porsche 911 to the wedding, I loved this part of the day. Having half an hour in the car with my Dad driving across the beautiful Northumberland countryside really calmed my nerves and that one on one time with my Dad is something I will always remember.
Photographer
SJ, I don’t even have the words to describe how amazing SJ was, she was so relaxed on the day and I loved having her around. Her chilled out manner made it really easy to stand in front of the camera. Her style of imagery really suited what we were after and the pictures really did the day justice.
The Venue
Our venue
Cripps Healey Barn, far exceeded our expectations, having the ceremony and reception in one place made everything so easy. Leanne who runs the weddings at Healey Barn was the best, she helped us every step of the way and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day taking all our stresses away.
Colour Scheme/Decor
We wanted to go for quite a clean look, whites Rose Golds and Navy. Me & Dan met working at festivals so it gave us an obvious choice for our table names, secret garden party being our top table where we first met over 6 years ago. We wanted the festival element to come through slightly in decor but not be too overwhelming, the festoon lighting designs on the wedding stationery and canvas on the day gave that subtle hint we were after along with the glow sticks for the evening.
Working at
notonthehighstreet.com has given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing partners, I had
Twenty-Seven design cake topper acrylic signs for our confetti box and table plan, they also supplied us with personalised cufflinks for the groomsmen and printed cards for the table plan.
Smith & Sinclair supplied us with alcoholic cocktail pastilles for our favours, Gin & Tonic, Amaretto & Whisky Sour. We stamped our favours with personalised stamps from
Stomp Stamps &
Pretty Rubber Stamps. Our lovely guest book was by
BeGolden and matched our theme perfectly.
Dan works in event production and designed and built the crates we used on the day for the petal confetti and the table plan - I loved having something he had made by hand included in the wedding.
The amazing
Morgan designed and illustrated our canvas on the day, from the beautiful order of the day sign to the glow sticks sign and the sparkler sign. They are beautiful pieces of artwork which we will treasure forever.
Ceremony
We chose my best friend Hannah to do 1 reading (The Key To Love) at the start of the ceremony and Dan’s step mum Barbara towards the end (On Your Wedding Day). Although it wasn’t a traditional ceremony, the venue made it feel so special, with the big fireplace at the end of the room to the giant hanging flowers and candles above us, it truly is something I will never forget walking down the aisle to Dan with all our friends and family in attendance.
