Inspiration

This Montague Farm Hankham wedding inspiration has beautifully infused modern wedding decor at a rustic barn venue. Fabric signs, a pastel-coloured buttercream cake, and a tassel wedding dress are just some of the incredible contemporary touches captured by Recommended photographer Jessica Bevan. There are also column flowers, celestial headbands and drapes. Ready to be inspired?

Our vision for this shoot was to give a more chic twist on a traditional barn wedding.

STYLING

We wanted to focus on the juxtaposition of elements for this shoot. So, soft florals against concrete floors, statement draping against a dark wood backdrop and elegant tablescapes inside a rustic barn. We wanted to draw on colour, tone and texture to make use of all of the different areas in this beautiful venue. The styling specifically elevated some of the more bare areas of the barn, chapel and bar. Making them a beautifully chic wedding and reception space. Lots of warm amber tones and statement florals connected all of the areas together.

Montague Farm Hankham

The shoot took place at Montague Farm Hankham, East Sussex. The farm itself is a working organic farm with a sustainable ethos. It has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment to make way for a wedding and events space. There are some of the traditional aspects you would expect from a barn wedding venue, but with modern enhancements and design features (such as the beautiful polished concrete floor in the wedding chapel.) It is a truly diverse venue for style-conscious couples that like the idea of a barn wedding but also like industrial features.

Fashion

We wanted to use a sustainable bridal wear company for this shoot inspiring couples to consider pre-loved and re-imagined fashion. We also wanted to switch up the looks within the shoot so that there was a slightly more traditional white dress (albeit splendidly tasselled) for the ceremony and then a more vibrant evening look. Also, we wanted to showcase some statement headpieces to go with the gowns that we could wear with elegant up do's. As for something old, the bride model wore her own vintage Chanel shoes she wore at her own wedding.

When it comes to your 'something old, there's nothing like wearing a favourite pair of shoes. At least you know they'll be comfy!

The model couple are recently married but had to wait sometime to go on their honeymoon due to Covid. It was a great opportunity for them to relive and celebrate a wedding day.
