Inspiration

When a Needle And Thread wedding dress is involved, you know it’s going to be good! Sophie and Jimmy postponed their wedding seven times (we think that may be a Rock My Wedding record). They finally made their way down the aisle one day before lockdown. With family and friends watching over Zoom, and Recommended Supplier, Joasis Photography on hand for some incredible couples portraits, Sophie and Jimmy finally said their I-do’s! We absolutely love how unique their day was. From Sophie finding her florist at a local coffee shop, to a bespoke wedding band complete with her grandmother's engagement ring diamond, it’s all so personal and perfect! We’re totally here for this 'Love Wins' story.

Needle And Thread wedding dress for an intimate and relaxed day

We ended up having our reception dinner four days before our ceremony due to COVID restriction changes, and getting married the last day before the UK went into lockdown in December.

VIBE

The vibe was just to get it done! With all the changes it was hard to settle on a clear wedding brief. Being winter, I wanted my outfit to be practical (i.e. warm), but still unique. Jimmy knew he wanted a tux and found his awesome green velvet tux jacket from one of his favourite Australian brands. Our reception at the Nook had a very cosy feel too. The Cherry Tree Way team worked some magic with the table arrangements, foliage display and my bouquet based on my vague brief of 'like this picture but with autumnal and winter tones'.

FAVOURITE MOMENT

Having a private Zoom with our families who were gathered together in Australia and making some speeches before the ceremony was special. Shortly after, Jimmy and I had a private moment to exchange a gift before heading to the ceremony. I had arranged for one of Jimmy's favourite artists - Daryl Braithwaite - Australian music icon, to send a video message to wish him well on his wedding day, along with an original vinyl record of his favourite single by Daryl (The Horses!). Jimmy gave me earrings that had been made from my grandmother's gold engagement band. All of this involved tears!

We love Jimmy’s green velvet tux! Such a fantastic winter vibe for a December wedding.

If this wasn't already clear before COVID, it should be said now, plan around yourselves and make decisions that make you both happy! You also don't have to have a huge wedding and spend a fortune to make the day special. Also, a tip from Jimmy, eat breakfast on your wedding day... (he learnt that the hard way).
