Inspiration

Due to Coronovirus restrictions Shivani and Jiten had to postpone their originally planned destination wedding from July 2020 to July 2021. But as they weren't living together, they wanted to proceed with their civil ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall as soon as it was legal, so they could begin married life. Shivani looked like a goddess in her off the shoulder wedding and blew Jiten away at their post ceremony first look, and those family members that were able to attend couldn't not be happier for the newlyweds. "COVID has shown us that it's important to be resilient and spend every day we have together. The wedding was a pocket of joy in a tough year, for us, our family, and friends."

What Made Our Day Unique

We were due to get married in Lisbon this July but due to COVID we had to postpone the celebrations another year. We will be having our indian wedding there. It was important for us to have our civil wedding this year so we could move in and live together and not have that delayed by a year. COVID has shown us that it's important to be resilient and spend every day we have together, and the wedding was a pocket of joy in a tough year for us, our family and friends.

Old Marylebone Town Hall

Due to government restrictions surrounding weddings, Shivani & Jiten weren't sure for weeks if their ceremony would be able to take place. Let alone how many guests they'd be able to invite. In the end they were able to fill the room with 25 of their family and friends, taking the maximum number of people at Old Marylebone Town Hall to 30. They actually live-streamed the event so those that were not able to attend could also watch them say their vows, including Shivani's sister who was unable to fly to London from Sydney for the wedding. The nuptials are full of love, and joy, as are all the wedding portraits by Rock My Wedding, recommended photographer, Elena Popa Photography.

Inspiration & Styling

We just wanted a relaxed day that flowed well. As we had the event at a registry office we didn't have to worry about anything apart from getting to the venue. The registrars were lovely people and really brightened up the ceremony to make it feel very special. Even through COVID restrictions they managed the events safely and smoothly in a way that calmed everyone.

First Look

The first look, I would reccomend to do one. It felt like a private moment before joining all our guests. Its a moment filled with such emotion. Elena our photographer found the perfect spot for this and coordinated and captured it beautifully.

Advice

Be resilient to whatever life throws at you. There's always a way to adapt and make it work and remember that guests will always support you. They never knew what the original plan was therefore won't notice a deviation.

Elena Popa Photography also captured the post lockdown wedding of Lauren and Robert at Chelsea Town Hall. Both of these weddings are proof that love isn't cancelled and that big weddings aren't always better.
