Teresa the Groom: My husband and I are a bit untraditional. After ten years together, we were confident that we wanted to elope, but the hard part was deciding where it would be. I remember seeing pictures of a beautiful island with whitewashed houses and blue domed churches nestled among cliffs. It was Santorini, and I immediately fell in love. We were nervous about eloping, but honestly, we loved every moment. It felt intimate, sincere and definitely adventurous.
Probably our favourite part of Santorini was staying at Aenaon Villas, a small family run boutique hotel with breathtaking views of the island. Alexandra and George made us feel so welcome and took care of any needs we had. We got married on the veranda outside of the villa, overlooking the sea.
I knew it would be difficult planning everything from the States, so a planner was imperative. I found Maria from Tie the Knot in Santorini and the rest of the process fell into place with ease. She handled everything, from finding the right vendors to set up the ceremony and table setting. It was stress-free and lovely to see everything come together from her vision.
A bohemian, rustic vibe filled with vibrant colours was what I envisioned. Coral, peach and earthy greens were a nice contrast to the otherwise white and clean set of the villa. Betty from Betty's Flowers created all of the beautiful floral arrangements. I especially loved the table settings with succulents, candles and seasonal flowers. It was very romantic as we enjoyed a panoramic view of Santorini and the delicious food from Spicey Bites catering.
Since it would be a destination wedding, I wanted a dress that was light, airy and easy to pack, of course. My dress is from Watters and it is ethereal and flowed effortlessly with the gusty wind. The groom kept it simple with a navy blue ensemble from Express Men.
Our photographer, the talented and sweet, Nadia Meli worked her magic and literally climbed mountains with us to get those amazing shots. Looking back, I'm not sure how I managed to find her on Instagram, but we are so happy that we did. After the ceremony, we drove up a nearby cliff overlooking the sea during sunset. We will always remember that moment and are so grateful to have beautiful pictures to take us back.
