One of our favourite moments of the day came from breaking tradition. We decided to get ready together on the morning of our wedding with our best women with us. It was so special soaking up this time together in the lead-up to the ceremony. Secondly, asking all our guests to join us in a group vow followed by everyone receiving a glass of fizz in the ceremony to toast to us as we walked back down the aisle.
Hannah & Grace
Hannah & Grace had both studied languages, so it felt natural to have a destination wedding. They sought a venue that felt relaxed but that spoke for itself without a need for lots of decoration. The second they saw the terracotta walls, olive branches and the huge fig tree at Masia Nur in the Sitges, they were sold! Hannah & Grace chose their joint oldest friend to be their celebrant, which made the ceremony feel so personal. The couple also chose a best woman and a best man each. All 47 of the guests stayed for the entire wedding weekend, so it wasn't just about celebrating for one day and Hannah & Grace felt like they could spend time with everyone. The aim of the day was to join their families together, which is why Hannah & Grace decided to walk each other down the aisle after both sets of their parents.
Keeping things intimate and personal was an important priority for Hannah & Grace. The couple created ‘The Henry-Wake Post’ inspired by their new shared last name. They DIY’d the wedding newspaper on Canva and then printed this with the Newspaper Club. Since they kept things smaller with 47 guests, the brides wanted to make every guest feel special and a part of their new lives together, so Hannah & Grace wrote personalised letters for every guest as the wedding favours and used the envelope as the place setting for the wedding breakfast. Now, that’s one hell of a DIY project! The opening of these letters made for some tear-jerking photos! The couple also kept the music choices meaningful with Paper Rings by Taylor Swift as their walk back down the aisle song and Love On Display by Guy Sebastian as their first dance song.
Make sure you don't include things as a part of your wedding just because you think you should or because that is what everyone else is doing! It is your day, so make sure that it is filled with the things you want to do, that make you happy and feel authentic to the two of you! Don't let yourself get too stressed about the little things. If it won't matter in a year's time, it shouldn’t matter on the day! Oh, and, if you are planning the wedding yourself, make an occasion out of the planning sessions. We used to go to our favourite coffee shop.
