What Made Our Day Unique

We're not traditional people so an off the shelf wedding was never going to be for us, which is why Trinity Buoy Wharf was the perfect location. Each detail was personal and hand-selected by us. It was incredibly time-consuming and probably more expensive but, with the help of our amazing wedding planners at Occasion Queens and the incredible Sachin at Veer, it resulted in something that was truly ours. On the fourth trip to Hobbycraft in a week, you wonder if you should’ve handed it all off to someone else, but when it all came together, it was worth it. Our favourite moments of the day were just after the first dance, from that point on I could truly relax and let my hair down. Everything had gone to plan so it was time for dancing and drinks with all my favourite people in the world. For Ben, it was Stealing a glimpse as I came down the aisle. It was all real then. We were actually gonna do this.

Inspiration & Styling

Nothing too formal, keep the ceremony short, let the good times roll. A friend's advice was that guests only care about three things - food, booze and entertainment - so we made sure we nailed those. People still rave about Flo Collective, who kept the dance floor going all night long, and say the curry from Veer was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. Our ace photographer Kirsty MacKenzie loves a pop of colour so she inspired us to incorporate as much as possible with a personalised neon sign(which is now mounted in our hallway), pink blossom trees and vibrant flowers. Night after night sat on the sofa with the laptop, scrolling through Rock My Wedding on Instagram, mainly stalking other people's weddings.

Advice & Planning

Try not to agonise too much over every little detail - it’s unlikely your guests will actually notice most of them! Don't stress about not being able to chat at length with everyone on the day - it just won't happen. Don't try and do it all yourself, especially when it comes to hiring a blank canvas venue. Hire a wedding planner - I promise you it's worth the expense. Try and extend celebrations by having a brunch/lunch in a pub the next day. It’s perfect for a debrief and hair of the dog.
