FAQS
How many guests can I have?
We seat up to 144 guests for the wedding breakfast and up to 200 guests in the evening. Licensed, civil indoor ceremonies take place in our main stone barn, which is over 200 years old, underneath our waterfall of lights. Outdoor licensed civil ceremonies are opposite the barn, surrounded by the Pennine Hills and overlooking the meadow. Alternatively we can recommend local celebrants. The beautiful St Theobald's Church is also 1/2 a mile away, set next to the River Eden.
How is Catering provided?
Our catering parnters, Southcott Events Catering, will look after all of your foodie needs. A husband and wife team, Luke and the chefs will prepare perfect seasonal dishes of your choice, whilst Jen and the front of team take care of your guests and co-ordination on the day.
Who are we?
We are a family run venue and each wedding we host is completely unique, with the venue being exclusively yours. We live and breath all things weddings and are on hand to support you from the initial viewing through to the big day. We set up your wedding for you, co-ordinate on the day, and then de-set it, leaving you to relax and enjoy the celebrations.
Where do I stay
We are opening the 'Eden Inn' this Spring, which is located in the next village to the barn. Our 300 year old coaching inn will sleep up to 34 guests, with 3 suites available. Perfect for those pre wedding meet ups and post wedding brunches. A private dining room is available upon request. Situated in the beautiful Eden valley, we also have a recommended accommodation list, which includes further places within the village and surrounding market towns.
Sustainability
We are on a journey to become as fully sustainable as possible. We have constructed the barn with reclaimed, local materials and estate timbers. Our catering partners have engineered a menu that provides seasonal, local produce to reduce food mileage. We both use staff from the surrounding villages to reduce the carbon footprint, provide opportunity and sustain local communities. As land owners, we are responsible for offsetting, measuring carbon sequestration, and reducing harm created. Re wilding of areas of the 100 acre estate has begun, one area is the Meadow, planted with wild flower seeds and now available for you to enjoy in a quiet moment of your day.
Available dates
We have limited available dates for 2024. Please enquire for any cancellations. Our 2025 and 2026 diary is open. Book a viewing with one of the family and we will show you around, help you with the planning process, set up and co-ordinate your day. We even de-set it and have it ready for a member of your wedding party to collect the next day, making as easy, breasy as possible for you.
