Paxton & Brown Caterers is an award-winning, independent and family-run catering company - we specialise in catering at dry-hire venues (barns, marquees, tipis and more) in Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas (Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire). Specialising in British, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern foods, Paxton & Brown makes everything with love and care. From finger-smacking canapés to mouthwatering sharing feasts - there is very little we cannot create! We believe you don't need to be limited to a set menu but work with couples to create a menu specifically for you. We can accommodate different dietary requirements as well with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. Yes absolutely! These are charged at £75+VAT per person (minimum of 4 and max of 8 guests) - we come to your house, create your menu, chat about everything then wash up! When you book with us we take 50% of this charge off your final bill.
Our prices are menu and service dependent but your eventual quoted price will include your menu (of course!), all staffing (head chef, chefs, front manager and waiters), all admin, consultations, site visits, on the day food service management and VAT. All of our food is sourced via local suppliers and our staff have a wealth of experience to make sure your day runs smoothly The only additional charges are hire items - this is very venue dependent as not all have kitchens, crockery, linen etc available for caterers to utilise - we work with a great local company and we do all the administration for this.
We can certainly serve your welcome drinks (we offer a simple welcome drinks service free of charge if you order canapés with us) and place wine on tables ready for guests to self pour - just let us know where it is being kept and we will sort the rest!! Additional services can be supplied for an additional charge. We do not offer a full bar service but we can look to supply staff to serve your drinks (please note: we do not supply any alcohol). Alternatively we have worked with some great bar companies and can recommend them to you.
In short - Nope! We understand this is you day and it should reflect who you both are. We work closely with couple and create each menu specifically for you - this means we can incorporate things into the menu and service to suit you.
Years and years and years....... James and I are old school caterers - having worked in many independent restaurant and bars in Bristol and the South West we decided to take the leap and start our own catering company a few years ago, creating amazing food and serving it with love 100% our way!
Yes absolutely - our most popular is our Posh Ploughman's - a feasting table based on the old school ploughman's lunch - but SO much better. We also understand that not all guests will want to partake in this and so recommend catering for 75% ish of your total evening guests.
We are Bristol based but will happily travel around 1.5 hours to your venue/location - eg Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Cotswolds, South Wales, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and on......

Amazing team from start to finish P&B were absolutely incredible from end to end. After multiple calls with caterers in the planning phase, I really felt like P&B who truly listened to me, making it an easy choice to select them. They didn’t hesitate at all when we requested an entirely gluten-free wedding and went above and beyond to accommodate some challenging dietary requirements from our guests. The team is approachable, helpful and also creative. I genuinely felt like they were willing to do whatever it took to make our day special. Given that our venue was a bit basic, they played a crucial role in enhancing the overall experience. The food itself was nothing short of amazing! Having attended around 15 weddings (including my own) in the past three years, I can confidently say I’ve never enjoyed the food as much as I did at ours! I received countless compliments from guests as well. The entire team was smooth, professional, and friendly. I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!

Dream wedding caterers - the best! Paxton & Brown catered for our outdoor wedding this summer. From the very first consultation to waving James off on the evening of our wedding day, they were an absolute dream to deal with. No request was too small and Henny and her team were helpful in many ways beyond what is expected of a caterer. From helping us decide on the menu, working with local suppliers we know and love, organising a delicious tasting and doing all of the equipment hire order for us - she made life so much easier during the wedding planning. Our guests all complimented the food so highly, and the service on the day was seamless, none of our guests wanted for anything. Paxton & Brown recently catered for our… Paxton & Brown recently catered for our son's wedding. From the start of the planning process to the day itself they were a pleasure to work with. Nothing was too much trouble. We could not fault their attention to detail. The day itself was one of the hottest of the year and yet Henny, James and the team worked tirelessly to ensure on the day everything went according to plan. The canapes, wedding breakfast and evening supper were all superb. I would have no hesitation recommending Paxton and Brown....indeed I wish we could do the whole thing again.

Tastiest caterers! Paxton and Brown catered our wedding breakfast for us and everything about it was perfect! From the very beginning the communication was excellent, James took his time on the phone with us to conceptualise our idea and we came up with an exciting vegetarian mezze menu. It was so great to be able to choose exactly what we wanted and not pick from a stuffy, old fashioned menu. Henny and James came to our house for a tasting which was a special touch, they left our kitchen spotless. Then on the day itself, they handled everything professionally but were still warm and friendly. It was nice to have built a good relationship with them so that we could trust on the day that everything would run smoothly. All the guests commented on how delicious the food was and it looked fantastic as well as being extremely tasty! Thank you so much P&B, would 100% recommend and use again.
Wedding 2025 We used Paxton & Brown for our wedding catering and they were amazing. Henny is incredible and they ran the day for us keeping us on track. The food was incredible and tailored to our ideas. Cannot recommend enough.
Foood to die for The ability to read our minds as to how we wanted things as we didnt really know, they were so accomodating and understanding. The food was to die for and despite our unusal requests completely phenomenal. Value for money exceptional.
