Each supplier has their own rates and will charge you accordingly so expect to pay in the region of £500-£600 upwards for a 3 tier fondant finished cake. Obviously the more elaborate and the bigger the cake, the more expensive it will be. Square and hexagon shaped cakes are more expensive also. Once you've chosen your cake maker make sure you tell them your budget up front. This will help them create a design that you can afford and save any disappointment on your part with not being able to have what you really want due to the cost.
Absolutely. In fact, it's encouraged! Cake should not only be delicious, it should be fun. Once upon a time, every wedding cake was fruit cake. Yours still could be if it’s your favourite. If it isn’t, there are loads of other flavours you can include and you can have different flavours for each tier. Maybe you are considering classic flavours such as Victoria sponge or lemon, or can we tempt you with something more surprising like sticky rum and ginger? We also offer dessert favourites such as cherry bakewell or sticky toffee. It’s your wedding so have the flavours you love.
Have you already got a wedding Pinterest board? Spotted some gorgeous images on social media? Bring everything to your consultation. Don’t limit yourself when you create that Pinterest board, even if you’ve already decided on a theme for your wedding. Throw in everything that you like the look of. Unexpected patterns start to emerge and it all helps your cake maker to suggest things you’ll love. One request from me – please come to your consultation with an open mind. You might have a pretty good idea of the kind of cake you want, but I have lots of surprises up my sleeve. The perfect wedding cake for you might be something you didn’t know was possible.
Remember your cake maker is the expert so ask lots of questions, such as:- How much cake will I need for the number of guests at my wedding? Do you offer a design and consultation service? What about a cake tasting? Ask about deposits, final payment and refunds Does the price quoted include delivery to your venue or is that extra? Discuss personalised cake toppers and cake stands Can they accommodate special diets, i.e. gluten free What flavours do they offer?
Thank you for the most beautiful wedding cake. You looked after us every step of the way. The cake was delicious, all three layers. All the guests were asking at the wedding who made the cake and at the end of the night there was nothing left…even the crumbs were not safe!

OMG the best cake I have ever eaten! I booked Red Velvet for my Wedding Cake after trying the Cherry Bakewell flavour at a Wedding Open Evening and there were no regrets! Toni was so lovely and the cake tasting was amazing; everything was so delicious and we were able to pick whatever flavours we wanted (even bespoke ones) and completely customise the cake to our theme and I enjoyed every single bite. Not only did it taste great it also looked amazing
Having a Halloween wedding we needed a cake that was both a statement and magical. The cake was absolutely breathtaking - everything I had dreamed of and more, down to the tiny details such as the stars and moons to match my veil, which Toni suggested. Being a wedding photographer I know from tasting a lot of cake through the years it is so important to get it right. Guests really do love the cake and when I myself got married this year I knew without any doubt Red Velvet Bakery was going to making my wonderful cake.
