Inspiration

Oh mon dieu! This rustic chic wedding shoot at Chateau de la Ruche is so picturesque! There's a surreal quality to this dreamy outdoor woodland tablescape and flower arch. It's Alice in Wonderland meets Red Riding Hood, with a sprinkling of sophisticated French style.

Situated in the Loire Valley, Chateau de la Ruche (that's right, of Channel 4's 'Escape to the Chateau: DIY' fame) is perfect for an intimate countryside wedding. Simultaneously laidback yet luxurious, Chateau de la Ruche's secluded woodland, wildflower meadows and beautiful gardens brimming with seasonal blooms look like something out of a fairytale.

Chateau de la Ruche's secluded woodland looks right out of a fairytale.

Immediately you know you've arrived somewhere very special. Small but perfectly formed, it's the perfect spot for an intimate destination wedding.

CHATEAU DE LA RUCHE

The concept was based around nature and celebrating the beautiful countryside around Chateau de la Ruche. From the tree-lined avenue outdoor table setup, to the wildflower meadows woven through the stationery detailing. We specifically wanted to draw from the surroundings to tie the shoot together, so we used seasonal and locally flowers, blossom and foliage. Additionally, local produce was sourced to create an extravagant grazing table feast.

VIBE

A palette of pale whites, creams, blue-greys and hints of pink went with neutral tones to give a soft, subtle spring feel. Liz from Blue Sky Flowers opted for lots of feminine ruffles and texture to create a soft yet stylish look. Similarly, the stationery by Pale Press London featured hand-drawn wildflower illustrations to tie into the surrounding meadows and countryside. Finally, the wine bottle themed table plan nods to the Loire Valley, a region known for its wine production.

STYLING

When it came to fashion, we wanted a statement look (we were in France, after all!). Ultimately, something romantic and feminine that would complement the rest of the shoot. The Jesus Peiro separates were perfect as the floral embroidered top tied into the wider ‘nature’ concept, and the statement tulle skirt added wow-factor. Storme Makeup and Hair created a tousled ponytail and natural makeup look for a sophisticated springtime feel.

Elegant, romantic and sleek, this shoot perfectly captures classic French style.

The Chateau itself is elegant and romantic yet very understated, we particularly wanted to reflect this in our styling.
