Didn't get tickets to Glastonbury? Don't fret! This bold, boho wedding will knock your socks off. All the ingredients for a fabulous festival wedding are included, from bell tents and tree-hung hammocks, to fire pits and wildflower meadows, to an array of musical and creative entertainment - as well as a traditional church wedding ceremony - we really wish we'd scored an invitation to this sunny Somerset celebration. With colourful bunting wedding decor and bright, locally-grown flowers keeping the feel-good feeling high, we truly are finishing the week off on a stunning note with this one.

The Vibe Of Our Day

Our wedding was inevitably going to turn into its own mini-festival, given our shared love of festivals, music and creativity. The Old Summer Dairy, located in the heart of Somerset, was the perfect venue for a bespoke, outdoor, festival wedding, with views of Glastonbury Tor. I spent the months running up to the wedding making huge dreamcatchers using hula hoops and fake flowers, designing large MDF laser cut mandalas to frame the stage, and designing and making all the stationary and signage for the day. We also had a lot of creative input from friends and family, with James’ dad building 'J & H' letters and my dad, a beekeeper, making us hexagon-shaped pots of honey for our wedding favours.

Holly & James

Colourful Bunting Wedding Decor

If you thought bunting was twee, think again: the bright and bold bunting hanging from every corner of Holly & James' marquee is magic, creating a fantastic festival vibe which we're not going to forget for a long time. Paired with colourful tapered candles on the tables, dreamcatchers dripping from the ceiling and a stunning stage for their entertainment - which included friends Piers, Amy and Jo playing the kora, belly dancing and hula hooping with fire respectively - this wedding is flamboyant and fun in equal measure. Guests were briefed to wear what makes them feel most fabulous, resulting in colourful party dresses, waistcoats, flowers and feathers swishing around the dance floor and campfire. And as we're talking fashion, a nod to Holly's stunning Rue de Seine gown, which is bohemian and romantic all rolled into one.

Advice For Future Brides

At the very beginning, I recommend sitting down together with a big sheet of paper and some pens (and a bottle of wine!) and map out your ideas. Let your imaginations run away with you and bounce ideas off each other. Make a joint Pinterest page to share images you like. Split up the to-do list so it doesn’t feel like one person is doing more than the other. After all, it's a special day for you both and it’s great to feel you can rely on each other when things get stressful; teamwork makes the dream work!
