If you're a fan of neon signs, disco ball decor and some incredible bridal fashion, then this wedding at Gods Own Junkyard will be right up your street. Zoe & Nathan's big day is a bonafide feast for the eyes - there's SO much to look at, and it's all fantastic. Being Greek, Zoe wanted to incorporate aspects of her culture. This included Stolisma in the morning, a Stefana ritual, as well as a money dance. You just can't put a price on that! The wedding was also entirely vegetarian/vegan, so they aren't just incredibly cool - but sustainable, too. They say a photo is worth 1000 words, so a video must be worth millions. Recommended supplier Black Sheep Films proved this right, perfectly capturing the deliciously retro day. Zoe's gorgeous lace wedding dress from Recommended supplier Made With Love Bridal is an absolute dream, in photos, on video, and in real life.

Wonderfully eclectic wedding at Gods Own Junkyard, London wedding venue

We intertwined our non-traditional values with nods to Zoe's Greek Cypriot heritage with a traditional Stolisma ritual at the family home pre-ceremony, Stefana/crown ritual at the ceremony and Greek dancing in the evening, including the infamous 'money dance'. All catering was vegan/veggie - we were excited to share our values with our family and show them food can be good without meat. We had postponed twice, moved venues and downsized our wedding from 250 to 70, so it was so special when we finally got to the big day and did it our way with our favourite place.

Gods Own Junkyard

Gods Own Junkyard has always been a happy place for Zoe. Growing up in Walthamstow, it was a piece of her heart. We always wanted to get married there but were torn between having large families and fitting them in our dream venue. After multiple postponements for our big fat greek wedding at another venue, we knew we had to downscale and have the wedding we had always dreamed of. Small, intimate and surrounded by neon lights! Strangely, Covid taught us to really just do what we wanted - it was our wedding after all.

Lace wedding dresses, neon wedding signs, disco ball decor, Greek traditions... What more could you want?

It is very cliche, but don't get caught up in what everyone else wants - we learnt that you can't please everyone so you may as well make sure you, the couple, are happy. Some practical advice. Add more time to your bridal/groom prep - everything goes by so fast and you want enough time to not only get ready but take a moment alone to absorb what is about to happen and also as a couple, take a moment together to observe everyone you love in the same room - it truly was such an unforgettable feeling.

Zoe & Nathan

Zoe & Nathan's wedding is such a delight to look at. With fantastic pops of colour in every corner, it's the antithesis of monochromatic. And we're so here for it! We're also always here for pets at weddings, so there's another reason why this wedding was a huge yes from us. With so many venues to choose from, sometimes it's hard to stand out. Zoe & Nathan's choice was wonderful though - and yours can be too! Our selection of unusual wedding venues guarantees some gorgeous and zany couples photos.
