Inspiration

Ok, Sophie & Dave! We see you looking flames at Holkham Hall wedding. Wanting their day to be relaxed and not too serious, this gorgeous couple opted for a laid-back and boho style approach to their day. Wanting the colour-scheme to reflect their surroundings, Sophie went for silvery greens and pastel colours, working perfectly against the backdrop of their day. With Sophie & Dave braving an outdoor wedding (considering the U.K. weather!), they were incredibly lucky on the day, and saw nothing but blue skies and beaming sunshine. But we have a sneaking suspicion that even with a little rain, their day would have been perfect.

Holkham Hall wedding in The Temple with blue skies and beaming sunshine

Our day was everything we could have hoped for. Norfolk has always held a special place in our hearts and Holkham Hall, for the two of us, is the perfect blend of fairytale-like sophistication. Choosing to share our love of Holkham with our families and closest friends was a dream come true. -'The Temple' is such a magical and relaxing venue. It was the perfect atmosphere for our day.

VIBE

The vibe of our day was incredibly relaxed, magical and enchanting. We didn't want our day to be too serious or formal, and just wanted to be able to celebrate our love with our family and closest friends. One of the most important things to us was finding a photographer that shared our vision. With this is mind, I knew I had to have the incredible Lucie Watson, who I first met whilst teacher training together. I had followed her for a long time and always adored her work. We will forever be grateful to her and Jamie for providing us with lasting evidence of our magical day.

ADVICE

Remember the sole purpose of the day - it’s a celebration of love between soulmates. Try not to worry, and just enjoy every second creating memories that will last a lifetime! If you have an outdoor element to the day, try not to check the weather every 5 minutes every day for the 10 days leading up to the day. It won’t change the outcome and what will be will be perfect for you and your day.

WEDDING DRESS

My wedding dress was a Justin Alexander gown which I fell in love with at Grace & Lace Bridal. I knew I wanted a laid back, Gatsby-esq style, that I could wear for both our outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The sleeves were detachable, which allowed a seamless transition from the more modest look during the ceremony to a more relaxed style for the evening.

Sophie’s wedding dress included detachable sleeves, which allowed for an easy transition into her reception! We’re all for anything that makes getting down on the dance floor easier…

Every part we loved, and we wouldn’t change a single aspect of our day. But for me, it was seeing Sophie for the first time walking down the aisle in her stunning dress. Also having my Mum, Dad, Julia and two brothers standing with me, with all our favourite guests in our favourite magical place - I will never forget that overwhelming feeling of warmth, happiness and love.

If a Holkham Hall wedding seems to be all your dreams come true and more, then don’t go anywhere! We’ve got plenty more inspiration. Take a look at this beautiful and romantic inspiration at West Horsley Place in Surrey. Or how about this whimsical country house wedding at Brympton House, with a gold & grey colour scheme? Honestly, we could be here for days. Take a look around… there’s plenty more.
