Inspiration

Ashleigh & Emily’s wedding at Recommended venue, Holmes Mill, is the pick-me-up you need today! This gorgeous duo said their I-do’s after two postponements during a laid-back and personal day. Incorporating a little bit of Disney magic (due to their rescheduled honeymoon visit), they created individual Disney themed centrepieces. Their vibe was rustic and boho, which went perfectly alongside the gorgeous backdrop of their venue. Of course, it was all perfectly captured in the distinctive style of Recommended Supplier, Esme Whiteside Photography

Holmes Mill wedding with Disney centrepieces

We kept our group of suppliers small and simple, in order to save on money and to make sure the day was super personal to us. We chose our three suppliers via Instagram. Our photographer, Esme Whiteside Photography, was chosen well in advance when we were won over by her portfolio of work and commitment to making us feel extremely comfortable about the whole experience.

PERSONAL TOUCHES

Our day had been postponed twice due to Covid and we had been waiting a long time to celebrate with our friends and family. We wanted to make sure that we kept the day very personal and we did so by designing and putting together most of our theme and decor ourselves. Emily’s mum personally put together anything that required flowers and built a very beautiful and impressive backdrop along with the bouquets, table dressings and men’s pin holes.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS

The day had so many special moments. Our first dance was so much fun, we opted not to go with the slow dance and rocked it out to fat boy slim praise you instead. The most memorable moment however was our first look. Before any of our guests had seen us, we chose to have a first look together in the stairwell of our hotel rooms. This was a really intimate moment which also helped to settle the nerves. The photos from this moment are also incredible. From there we took on the day together!

Seriously though… how gorgeous are the DIY Disney centrepieces!? We’re obsessed!

Shop around, consider making something yourself but more importantly enjoy the process! Be ready for things to not always go to plan. As we rescheduled our wedding due to covid, we learnt how to plan around the unforeseen. Some things we planned never happened and others we didn’t plan took us by surprise. It will all come together in the end. Just don’t sweat the small stuff!

This Holmes Mill wedding is truly a testament to how much you can do yourself, and how perfect it can look! DIY touches aren’t as daunting as they may seem. A quiet nod to things you love most can be the perfect addition to your day. Oh, and don’t forget to rope in family and friends to help… (especially those creative ones… we see you…)
