Inspiration

Having been together for over 13 years, Kat & Tim had attended a lot of weddings together and had both worked events together, so when it came to planning their own special day, they wanted to pay attention to the things that made the day unique and relaxed. The main priority for Kat & Tim was finding somewhere where many of their loved ones stay could stay together, which is why Recommended Venue, Watermouth Cove, worked so well! With a custom sparkly sequin wedding dress, bold black bridesmaid dresses, striking hot pink DIY dried wedding flowers and so much more. If you love the decor from this wedding, you’ll be happy to know that you can buy it from Recycle My Wedding, our pre-loved buy-and-sell platform with everything from decor to dresses. Watermouth Cove wedding with a bespoke sparkly sequin wedding dress and DIY wedding flowers

We were inspired by tropical flowers, pinks and oranges that I saw from other weddings. I decided to take on the flowers myself as I knew I'd be able to get the most out of my budget that way - and being a bit of a control freak - I'd know exactly how it would all look on the day! I loved the boho look of pampas and the festival feel that ribbon bunting gives - so it all sort of came together this way. Halfway through all my DIY tasks, I decided the theme was a tropical sunset glam. With the venue and scenery, we were lucky that there wasn't too much to do - I just wanted to put our own stamp on it and inject some colour and sparkle.

Kat & Tim

Watermouth Cove Wedding

So, with a tropical sunset glam theme, Kat & Tim tied the knot at Watermouth Cove. The couple had visited a few venues but instantly felt at home at Watermouth Cove. They felt relaxed and trusting of the family running this wonderful place to pull off all the details! Everything went without a hitch! Well, besides the Kat and Tim, of course. The couple had 3 best men and 10 bridesmaids. How incredible to have so many special people in your lives! To manage the speeches, 2 of the best men read their speeches during the ceremony and his oldest friend read his before the meal. Kat's sister spoke as well! Kat & Tim had their little girls as flower girls, which was so special. Kat’s mum walked down the aisle as a bridesmaid to symbolise the friendship between mother and daughter. We love this! With so many people involved in the wedding, the couple chose sharing platters of Greek food for the wedding breakfast and a cocktail hour with kebabs!

Sparkly Sequin Wedding Dress

The epic DIY project of this wedding was Kat doing all the dried flowers! Kat also DIY’d the invitations and signage, the flower girl’s tutus, and the bunting and collaborated closely with the designer on her dress. Apart from their little girls, the wedding singer and the sunshine. . . the sparkly sequin bespoke wedding dress stole the show. Although initially nervous about wearing something untraditional, Kat seriously rocked it! The brief she gave to the lovely Ceris, was that she wanted to "be as sparkly as the crab from Moana". Iconic. After many fittings and scrolling through Pinterest, they had the finished look! The dress is quite heavy with beading, but when Kat walked down the aisle it made the most beautiful swishing noise and the sparkle it gave off when the sun hit it was amazing. Even the people Kat thought might be shocked by the dress were so complimentary! Who can blame them?

Black and hot pink is a colour palette we’re obsessed with! Those black bridesmaid dresses and hot pink flowers together? Gorgeous!

Make the celebrations last as long as you can possibly afford and don't hesitate to ask people to travel to a venue! Find a venue staffed by people you connect with and trust. We live in West Sussex but decided on Devon as we have travelled to other people's weddings and always loved how it turns into a mini break. We also love the sea! Tim proposed on the beach and the best coastal venues are in the South West!

Kat & Tim

Any wedding at Watermouth Cove is going to look stunning. The venue seriously has a charm like no other. However, Kat & Tim’s day is going down as a fave in our books. As we said, you can find the pink, orange and silver ribbon bunting, a three-tier perspex cake box, the stunning pink, silver and coral pampas grass decorations, and 12 table centrepieces with dried flowers all available on Recycle My Wedding
