Inspiration

Love is most certainly in the air at this lesbian wedding, with same-sex couple Katy & Myrthe showing us how to have a rustic celebration in style. They drape fairy lights from Askham Hall's ceiling, tape fern leaves to the walls and include an abundance of pastel flowers, potted plants and on the day stationery and signs from RMW recommended supplier Lilac and White. Plus, they include many traditional and non-traditional wedding day moments like a first look, and brides speeches, all captured beautifully by Erin Browne Photography.

What Made Our Day Unique

Our day was just perfect! We envisioned a relaxed day surrounded by friends and family, with a rustic, boho style. Askham Hall was the most perfect, beautiful and relaxed venue, providing us with everything we could have hoped for. We were joined by our family and friends from all over the world, surrounding us with absolute love and joy. Having all of our friends in one place, in the same country at the same time - seeing them come together and enjoy our celebrations - meant the world to us! In planning our wedding - 3 people/teams made it everything that it was.. our wedding planner/ coordinator, Vicky Rowland from Askham Hall, Emma Tebbey - our stylist and Erin Browne our photographer - the absolute dream team!! Together with their amazing talent, teamwork and happy, loving energy, they made our day so relaxed and so perfect!! We could not have done it without them.

Lesbian Wedding

Same-sex weddings have been taking place in England and Wales since 29 March 2014. With Scotland closely following suit on 31 December 2014. And whilst Northern Ireland was a little behind the times, we're pleased to say they have now joined the rest of Great Britain and had their first same-sex wedding on 11 February 2020. Katy and Myrthe are just the happiest of brides, with their whole rustic wedding radiating joy. If that's not a reason to celebrate love then I don't know what is. Plus, regardless of the fact they are a lesbian couple, they bring us so much delicious wedding inspiration, help and advice, which as you know we can't get enough of!

Inspiration & Styling

The vibe we wanted was relaxed, rustic - surrounded in greenery and pastel flowers and colours. Having searched many magazines, internet wedding sites and Pinterest, I seemed to have an abundance of ideas, yet had no idea how to bring them together. That’s when we found the amazing Emma Tebbey!!! Her styling is just the most beautiful! So elegant yet relaxed and so fitting for our venue! Planning our wedding from afar (at sea and travelling the world) - we met Emma for an initial meeting at our venue - where I dropped all my ideas, thoughts and Pinterest boards on to her.. meeting via Skype meetings and calls from there onwards, she brought all these ideas together along with her own beautiful style and created the most amazing backdrop and style for our wedding!
