Inspiration

Rowan & Pamela married at The Parlour at Blagdon in Northumberland, which they decorated in all the colours of the rainbow. From ribbon chair back decor to colourful signage and a playful backdrop for the polaroid 'photobooth', this day is bright and bold in all the best ways. The couple also had lots of homegrown and locally grown seasonal flowers with colourful embroidered napkins, bridal Vans, and more! To keep to their wedding under 10k, the couple had lots of DIY from friends and family, which made their day all the more special. Everywhere you look, there’s something that was handmade or put together with love just for this amazing couple. Recommended Supplier, Margarita Hope Photography, captured this beautiful wedding day. Let’s get into the details!

Wedding under 10k at The Parlour at Blagdon with DIY decor

We used local suppliers where possible! Our photographer actually captured my sister’s wedding five years prior, so I’ve been watching her portfolio grow and always knew I wanted her to photograph our wedding too! We found a local florist wholesaler that was open to the public, not just businesses, which meant we could make the bouquets and decorations ourselves! We did ask a small local florist to do a private ‘bouquet-making workshop’ with us, which was fun and helped us prep for the big day!

The Parlour At Blagdon Wedding With DIY Decor

Rowan & Pamela had an intimate ceremony with friends and family followed by a colourful outdoor courtyard party. Every detail and decoration was DIY’d by family and friends, which made the look and feel of the day extra special! Working to a tight budget, made creative family members so valuable! Grandma made the bunting which hung around the courtyard and trees. Rowan & Pamela made the bouquets and floral decorations the day before with their best friends and family. Rowan embroidered the floral napkins and her mum made the chocolate bar favours, decorated with edible flowers. The edible flowers were from the couple’s garden.

Rainbow Theme & Sweetheart Table

Rowan & Pamela’s garden and being outside are really important to the couple, so going for a botanical theme with wildflowers and a rainbow wedding theme made complete sense. Those colourful ribbons as chair back decor are everything! Rowan’s colourful floral embroidered wedding dress was a perfect find. Rowan & Pamela wanted to be as organised as possible by doing one big task a month, starting several months before the wedding (but also tried to find a way to make it all fun). You can use our wedding checklist for help! The couple chose to have a sweetheart table for a bit of private time out of the busy day surrounded by loved ones. They’re the best for giving you a little time out to recharge for the party!

A sweetheart table is one of our favourite wedding trends right now!

We both remember standing back and watching all of our friends and family chatting and smiling. It was the first time everyone had come together after the COVID pandemic, with our friends managing to fly over from Singapore and Australia for the wedding!

Rowan & Pamela struggled to find gender-neutral wedding readings. If only they knew about our 16 wedding readings about love. With something for every couple, this readings roundup is by far our favourite yet! If you’re planning a wedding under 10k, we have plenty more inspiration to show you how you can stick to your budget!
