What Made Your Day Unique
We broke with tradition by having our speeches before dinner outside on the carousel. This worked really well as everyone had had a few drinks and was mingling and by having them standing around us it felt much more interactive. A bonus of this was that the backdrop of the carousel made for really lovely photographs. It also meant we could really enjoy our meal as we didn't have to eat with the nerves of the speeches to come. For dessert, our family made a selection of cakes and brownies which we displayed on a dresser outside with our wedding cake. Dessert is always the part of the wedding where everyone is in a bit of a food-coma and the mood starts to dip. By doing it outside along with the cutting of the cake, it got everyone up and back outside to make the most of the amazing weather.
Inspiration & Styling
Many of the guests at our wedding made the journey to Kent from abroad or from other parts of the country- we wanted them to come and experience the best of Kent in September. We worked with our caterer to create a menu which showcased local and seasonal ingredients such as locally baked bread, smoked fish and cheeses. For the toasts, we used a sparkling wine produced down the road from the venue. We also used an autumnal colour palette with shades of burgundy, burnt orange, and peach. We hired Persian rugs, macrame chandeliers and had plenty of pampas grass to keep the space looking rustic and bohemian.
