The vibe was chilled, summer chic in the Hereford countryside, with my husband's Scottish heritage intertwined. We’re not religious, and we don’t follow heteronormative traditions, so it was great to do things our way.
Ed & Stu
Ed & Stu’s woodland ceremony at Broadfield was as laid-back as they come. After a four-year wait (thanks, life!), the couple finally got their moment under the canopy of trees, surrounded by the people who mattered most. They had lost dear ones along the way, so the day wasn’t just about their love but a tribute to love in all its forms, including family, friendship, and, of course, the love of their adorable bulldog.
Dressed to impress (but in their own way), Stu honoured his Scottish roots in his Ancient Ross Tartan, while Ed rocked a striking blue and white wavy striped suit that screamed personality. No stiff tuxedos here! And while they skipped the traditional religious elements, the setting itself, with its rolling countryside, golden sunlight, and the laughter of their 200 guests, felt just as magical.
With vows exchanged and happy tears wiped away, the real fun began. There was no formal sit-down dinner. Instead, the couple had incredible food, great music, and a never-ending flow of KYLIE Prosecco (because why not make it fabulous?).
The reception began with speeches on the rose garden steps, a casual feast that blended Scottish and Herefordshire flavours, and a lineup of entertainment that kept the energy soaring. The DJ decks even were shared with guests stepping up to play some tunes, creating an ever-changing playlist that kept the dance floor packed all night. And just when the party couldn’t get any better, a 90s tribute girl band, which they found via Recommended Supplier, Bands For Hire, took the stage, belting out classics that had everyone screaming the lyrics.
Don’t stress. Do what you want to do. Take your time, and plan as best you can. Communication with your partner is key. Get Fran Sherman from Broadfield as your planner. She really was incredible.
