Yellow Wedding Theme and Dried Flowers For Minimalist Wedding

Written by Lorna Shaw

What Made Our Day Unique

All the preparation and hard work coming together to make our perfect day. What made our wedding unique was how much we took on ourselves. You can plan all the individual little touches, but it’s only on the day when you see it all come together, it gives you the biggest sense of achievement. We probably broke every rule in the floristry book (florists look away now!) but we set out to make 7 bouquets, a bridal crown, 6 hair pieces, 2 flower girl crowns, 7 buttonholes, 2 lapel corsages, 4 cake wreaths and 12 table decoration jars. Using dried flowers enabled us to prepare these in the months prior to the wedding, although it meant a lot of late nights after work!

Inspiration & Styling

We wanted to create a personal, autumnal themed, eco-conscious wedding day. The honeybee theme naturally crept in as Chloe is a beekeeper and it really matched the earthy, organic aesthetic. Honey bottled in recycled jars as favours, doubled up as guest place-names thanks to a talented bridesmaids' calligraphy skills! We chose to stay local so that as many friends and family as possible could attend to celebrate and party with us. The DIY approach was something we were really looking forward to, as we are both very creative and practical people. We are also lucky enough to have an abundance of family & friends who wanted to chip in and help us, in any way possible.
