FAQS

Many of your competitors have 'Gold' and 'Silver' packages and offer extras such as photobooths and starry backdrops. How come you don't?

I have one, simple package: great sound, great lights, great DJing. There is no '2nd Tier' package because I don't believe in doing anything half measure. When booking Offbeat you can count on me bringing everything I think is necessary for a fantastic party at your chosen venue and nothing that isn't. I won't try to upsell you by not including certain things as standard, and I don't provide extras such as photobooths, LED dancefloors or starry backdrops because my focus is and always will be on what I'm great at; selecting and mixing the music that will make your guests dance until their feet hurt. (If you need a photobooth I can recommend a good friend who can provide one.)

What would you say you particularly specialise in?

The majority of my clients book me for the full day. By doing so they are giving me complete control of their wedding soundtrack which eliminates the need for things like organising playlists, renting speakers, hiring multiple musicians to play at various times, or asking friends to 'hit play' during the ceremony. My set lists for the champagne/canapé reception provide perfect backdrop for a sunny day on the lawn, full of swing and reggae bootlegs you won't find on any Spotify playlist, and I can perform a toe-tapping warm up set in the evening before the first dance to get everybody in the mood for the main event. Having me there as your music consultant for the day will alleviate a lot of the stress that comes with organinsing so many separate elements, leaving you to relax and get on with the best day of your lives.

How would you describe your style on the decks?

In a couple of words? Busy and energetic. Nothing is worse than seeing a wedding party fizzle out to nothing and the DJ is sat in the corner with their head buried in a laptop playing tunes that 'seemed to work last time', waiting for the time to arrive when they can pack up and go home. I get through an enormous amount of music in my sets, all tightly mixed whilst playing to the crowd at all times, with lots of imaginative switch ups coming out of leftfield, giving your guests that "OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!" feeling that will keep your party going all the way to the last tune. And if there's no curfew, I'll gladly keep going for as long as you want at no extra charge. A lot of my reviews use the word passionate about me and for good reason. I love what I do and it shows.

How will you be dressed?

Like I belong at your wedding. Often a waistcoat, usually a hat, always smart.

We've hired a band and they're going to play two separate hour long sets, with a 45 minute break in the middle. They say they can either DJ or put on a playlist when they're not playing. Do you really think we need to hire a DJ as well?

Everybody loves a great band, myself included. But it's an extremely common dilemma. You need four hours of entertainment but the band is only offering two. Not only does this create a lull in the middle when everyone is fired up at a peak time, but it also typically leaves you with an hour (or more) at the end after the band has finished. Pre-arranged playlists might fill the silence, but how can you be sure that everyone will keep dancing and the party won't just fizzle out. This is exactly where an experienced DJ can not only fill the gap but pick the songs that specifically compliment the band's set. Bands tend to cover the big sing-a-long rock, pop and motown anthems, which is why I will work with them to make sure that the music I play brings a whole fresh new feel and atmosphere to proceedings, giving you the best of both worlds.

How much DJing experience do you have?

I've been spinning tunes and moving feet since 2008, (starting on vinyl, then CDs and now digitally) and have played on some of the biggest stages at bars, clubs and festivals both in the UK and abroad, as well as literally hundreds of weddings and other private events. DJing has been a full-time job and my greatest passion for most of my adult life. For a longer bio please take a look at my website, or even better, get in touch and ask! I love talking about music, DJing and parties, so please don't be shy.

Testimonials

An amazing and unforgettable party and all thanks to you. Everyone from my mum to the hardcore rave crew said how great the music was, and considering your set was over 7 hours and you had to saitisfy such a diverse range of people you were simply OUTSTANDING. Such a nuanced and slickly performed set, banger followed banger, followed banger, most of which we would never have thought to put on our playlist. Shapes were thrown all night long. There's good DJs, there's great DJ's. Then there's Sebastian. If you are lucky enough to have the chance, book him and don't look back.

Sebastian! What a fantastic guy and awesome DJ! Good music was such an important part of our wedding, we gave Sebastian quite a mix of genres and artists as a guideline and with his great DJing magic and talent- he absolutely smashed it! Everyone has commented on how good the music was, I want to hear it all over again! He also multi tasked and showed my curious 10 yo son how to work the decks! He's a seriously talented and hard working guy with a great knowledge and passion for good music. I wish we had another excuse to hire him again! Thanks Sebastian!

Sebastian, we don't know where to start. You were absolutely amazing and made our wedding reception the awesome party we always wanted! You read the crowd perfectly - with music that was both cross generational and trans Atlantic! The dance floor was never empty (and you had some great moves of your own!) And the silent disco was absolutely epic. So many of our guests have asked how and where we found you. Offbeat Entertainment was certainly one of the luckiest finds of our wedding! And more than that, you were so responsive and pleasant to work with up to and including the day. In fact, we may have to plan a 1-year anniversary party just to have you DJ again! ???? MASSIVE MASSIVE thank you for everything!! Please let us know if we can do anything to help spread the word about Offbeat Entertainment".

I have to be honest I wasn’t a fan of dj’s at weddings- I always thought a band was the way to go! Then I saw Sebastian at a friends wedding last year and he blew us away and so we decided to take a chance and booked him! Best decision we ever made! Customer service was impeccable from start to end, often going above and beyond. On hearing that we wanted to do a medley for our first dance, Weeks before the wedding he created a mix for our first dance without being asked so that we could practice the timings, incredibly helpful- it went amazing on the night! Sebastian put on a great show, incredible set, great music and such charisma- personality really came thru while dancing and mixing- would highly recommend! You would not be disappointed!

No kidding, Sebastian has completely changed our perception of what a wedding reception party can be. We were expecting big things as he was recommended so highly to us by a colleague, but honestly, he had the whole wedding party in the palm of his hand all evening, dancing to stuff we never dreamt would work so well at a wedding. Sebastian played such an eclectic and imaginative set all mixed with the natural touch of a man who’s been doing this his whole life, he just looks so at home on the turntables. If you’re finally bored of hearing ‘Single Ladies’ or ’Summer of 69’ at every single wedding you attend and want something that’s just the perfect amount of ‘cool’ to set yours apart, then look no further than Offbeat. To quote my little brother, the DJing was “pure vibes”.
