Inspiration

Alice, Alice, Alice. That appliqué wedding dress shall be dancing around in our dreams for the next few weeks! How lush? Knowing they wanted to marry no matter what, Alice & Ollie worked hard to ensure they could keep their original wedding date. Wanting a rustic and natural feel to their day, they sat on hay-bales and were surrounded by incredible floral decorations. There were plenty of personal touches throughout, such as the arch made by Ollie himself, which was then dressed by Harrison and Green. Oh, and keep your eye out for their beautiful black Labrador making his wedding debut - so flippin’ cute! We’re a little jealous recommended supplier Bates + Bates were able to capture this stunning day…

Appliqué wedding dress in natural outdoor wedding featuring a beautiful floral arch

For 2.5 years, our day was booked for 30/8/2020. When the pandemic hit, we knew we still wanted to continue with the date, as the most important thing for us was to get married.

FAVOURITE MOMENT

We’d all been locked away from each other for most of the year. So firstly, it was wonderful to see friends, family, and still have some of those close to us share our day. It was also so special to have a ‘Celebrant Ceremony’ that we could design as we wanted. We wrote personal vows and had a magical moment, making promises to one another in our own words.

VIBE

Houghton Lodge were so incredibly helpful, kind and made our vision possible. We had our ‘celebrant ceremony’ by the river with our loved ones watching on. Sat on hay-bales with the most incredible floral decorations by Karen at Harrison and Green - who was simply amazing! This was all arranged in about 6 weeks due to the nature of restrictions and having to change venues.

ADVICE

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to not sweat the small stuff! I think it’s really easy to get swept up in the planning of a wedding. Losing what you both really want. When we had to change our day due to COVID, it made us try and focus on those things that would mean a lot to us - and actually, our day ended up being much more authentic to us.

Alice & Ollie changed their original plans to ensure they could still marry on their original date, leaving them with a beautiful and intimate wedding day.

One of the most important things to us was having photos that captured and represented our day. I was very particular about the style I wanted (I don’t like ‘staged wedding photos’). Coming across Bates + Bates on Instagram I immediately fell in love with their style and reached out to them. From the first contact, their friendly and relaxed demeanour mixed with their amazing photography skills meant it was an easy decision to make!
