Inspiration

We're not sure it gets better than a luxurious Drumtochty Castle wedding! The couple wanted a magical witchy vibe inspired by the movie, Practical Magic (one of our faves!), and they have definitely ticked all the boxes. Captured by, Recommended supplier, Emma Lawson Photography, this day is full of all the moodiness an autumn wedding needs. From the emerald green bridesmaid dresses to the black square wedding cake, we want more! Kara and Stephen also used Recommended supplier, Prezola for their gift list.

I (Kara) work in the wedding industry (as a makeup artist) - so I already followed quite a few of our suppliers on Instagram. We had already picked some favourites before we went to view Drumtochty. Once we had booked the venue, they sent us their suppliers list. Quite a few of our shortlist were on there, so we went ahead and booked them - we felt fate was telling us to.

DIY & Creativity

The couple is lucky to have some very talented creatives in the family. Kara’s mum made her veil and her sister, Charlotte, designed the place settings, menus & stationery. She even made signs for the guests' bedrooms in the wedding font. Kara and Stephen focused on each small detail because it made them happy seeing it all come together, and their friends & family enjoy it all. Kara had seen an extremely expensive dress online that was out of budget and she was also pregnant with their youngest daughter, Miley, when they got engaged. But luckily she was able to recreate the dress and tweak the design to make it completely unique. These wedding pictures are convincing us that we need a Drumtochty Castle wedding ourselves...

Kara and Stephen told their suppliers that the vibe they wanted was a mix of The Witchery (a restaurant in Edinburgh) and Practical Magic (a movie with Nicole Kidman & Sandra Bullock). They wanted a magical and witchy vibe while still being beautiful and fun! We can confirm it certainly was, with a stunning square black wedding cake with gold flakes, and gorgeous emerald green bridesmaid dresses. Kara and Stephen didn’t love the thought of it being a very formal ordeal, so they planned it around just having a great day with their nearest and dearest. The venue is completely out of this world and makes this wedding a standout one! Plus, not forgetting those fantastic fireworks to finish the day.

End your magical day with a bang and some fireworks & golden sparklers, for all the fun vibes.

Our favourite moment was probably the dinner and speeches. I think we felt like we could fully relax once Stephen had finished his speech and we could have a drink with our family and friends. Stephens's best man, Alan, did the most amazing speech everyone was either sobbing or crying laughing. It was very special.
