Inspiration

Holly & Robert completely transformed Recommended Venue, Berkeley Castle, into a winter wonderland for their November wedding. The couple had a winter colour palette with lots of deep red tones including Robert’s red velvet suit jacket and burgundy bridesmaid dresses. Holly & Robert met during the pandemic in 2020 and had their first two dates over Zoom. They fell in love, survived lockdown together (the ultimate relationship test) and were engaged in 2022. The couple's goals for the wedding were to represent their love story with little personal touches and have everyone they loved in one place. Another way they did this was with their gift list from Recommended Supplier, The Wedding Shop. We have the honour of sharing all the details of this beautiful winter wedding, let’s get into them…

Red wedding theme for a classic winter wedding at Berkeley Castle

Don't worry what everyone else thinks, it's your day so do what you want and enjoy it. Don't sweat the small stuff, things will go wrong but you won't notice. This is one of the most important moments in your life so enjoy it, try not to listen to outside noise and do what makes you happy! Also, remember to spend time with each other on the wedding day!

Personal Touches At Berkeley Castle

As soon as Holly & Robert laid eyes on Berkeley Castle, they knew it was the one. Berkeley Castle is a beautiful 900-year-old castle in the Cotswolds, with an attached church. This unique venue had beautiful traditional rooms, with grand fireplaces and an amazing history. Holly & Robert actually worked with the venue to offer historical tours of the castle during their wedding reception for guests to learn more about the incredible venue. To make the day special and unique to them, the couple made sure to include Robert's Grenadian heritage, especially since this was where the couple got engaged! Family members who flew in from Grenada brought rum from the island for their bespoke rum bar for the evening. Holly & Robert also added spiced rum to the sticky toffee pudding layer of our cake. Yum! They also featured curried coconut canapés with flatbreads at the reception.

Red Velvet Suit Jacket For Winter Wedding

The theme of Holly & Robert’s wedding was winter opulence and glamour. The flowers and bridesmaid dresses were deep red tones that matched the groom's red velvet suit jacket and bespoke velvet shoes. They made sure their guests were kept warm with roaring fires and mulled wine upon exit from the church. The red and winter tones were added to the tablescape with deep blackberry tablecloths and napkins that matched the flowers and complemented the luxe gold chandeliers. Holly & Robert got creative with their bespoke lighting using uplights and haze effects to create a winter wonderland feel. They continued this theme into the night with sparklers to light up the night. Magical! Holly brought the winter sparkle herself in a Jane Hill wedding dress from Halo and Wren. Although the dress isn’t sparkly, Holly accessorised with the dazzling Sacora 100 Jimmy Choo shoes! The classic Cinderella shoes - fit for a castle fairytale wedding!

From a Grenadian twist on the dessert to an hour-long DJ set of garage classics this couple had plenty of personal touches

We both love music and grew up with our friends listening to those classic garage tracks of the 90s. One of Rob's passions is DJ’ing, so he decided to host an hour-long DJ set of garage classics for all our guests in between the band’s sets. It was a brilliant way to bring our personalities into the wedding and more importantly got everyone up and onto the dance floor.
