Inspiration

Nothing says beauty like a stylish, modern Chelsea Town Hall and Somerset House wedding in London. Grace & Ryan certainly got the memo, and had an absolutely incredible day. Every element was captured perfectly by Recommended photographer Epic Love Story. And as ever, she did an impeccable job of epitomising the love, style and grace on their big day. Grace's grandparents were married 60 years ago on the same day in London, and the couple took a stroll down memory lane, revisiting their wedding memories. I'm not crying, you are... Lucky for Grace, even if she did cry - her beyond-gorgeous makeup stayed in place all day - thanks to Recommended supplier Katie De Havilland Makeup.

Super stylish and modern Chelsea Town Hall and Somerset House wedding

My precious grandparents married 60 years ago on the same day in London. We hired an E - black cab to revisit their wedding memories between the ceremony and the reception venue. They had yet to return to south London since they moved out to Hertfordshire years ago, which was very special for them.

Somerset House Wedding

Somerset House, a historic venue found in the heart of Central London, was the perfect backdrop to Grace & Ryan's super modern, stylish wedding. This elegant spot is home to 12 different event spaces, accommodating parties of any size. As made evident in all of the photos from this wedding, this breathtaking, neo-classical building offers you a blank canvas to ensure your wedding day is just that - yours. Think of it less as a venue, and more as a platform for creativity and individuality. Struggling to choose a wedding venue? Somerset House is 100% worth a look.

Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

As stated in our 2023 wedding trends (link to article) predictions, mismatched bridesmaid dresses are making moves. Grace's bridal party embodied the beauty of organised disorganisation. The cool to deep pink colour palette was the only element resembling similarity - and it looked fabulous. The ladies sported varying lengths of bridesmaid dresses, some wrap around, some long sleeve, some strappy, ALL gorgeous. The contrasts of patterned and non-patterned dresses also made Grace's gorgeous puff sleeve wedding dress with a slit stand out even more.

Advice

Don't sweat the small stuff!
I spent a lot of time worrying about exactly how the tables would look, flip-flop baskets, gifts for guests etc. On the day, it just didn't matter. People were so immersed in the day itself that no one was worrying about ribbons on a menu!

Is it too early to start planning my own Somerset House wedding if I'm not actually engaged...?

After a few failed attempts to get married during the pandemic, we decided to scrap all of our previous plans and go with a city wedding like my nan and grandad. My Grandad walked me down the aisle, and it was so special.

Grace & Ryan

Undoubtedly, Grace & Ryan's wonderful Somerset House wedding will serve as a brilliant source of inspiration. If the London vibes have got you smiling, then Becci & George's intimate ceremony will be right up your (Oxford) street. The mismatching bridesmaid dresses are sure to be a hit this year. So why not try and smash two trends out of the park - satin AND mismatched?
