Inspiration

If you've always pictured yourself running through a summer meadow with flowers in your hair on your wedding day, then you're in for a right treat. Absolutely everything about this sustainable wedding inspiration shoot by Green Soul Weddings is eco-friendly, down to the very last feather. A free-spirited and intimate wedding with sustainability at its heart, this shoot is inspired by birds and nature. We just can't get enough of the DIY bird seed favours and natural confetti!

When it comes to sustainable wedding inspiration for micro or Covid secure weddings, simple details such as paper banners, locally sourced flowers and a local venue can be styled to perfection.

Local suppliers are often a great source of sustainable wedding inspiration.

The inspiration for this shoot came from a love of nature, wildlife and its healing, free-spirited vibes. I'm a planner that's passionate about all things sustainable. I aimed to show that sustainable weddings by talented local suppliers can be stunning, intimate and full of personality, whilst really respecting and protecting the world around them.

LOCATION

The shoot was held at the The Willow Tree in Cambridgeshire, a country village pub with a beautifully wild meadow space and naked tipi. Due to Covid, they have added 'pod' dining, a unique dining option for a Covid secure wedding. Different households can enjoy their own decorated pod, whilst getting in on the wedding action from a safe distance.

SOURCING SUSTAINABLY

Everything was considerately sourced for this sustainable wedding inspiration shoot, including fully recyclable and eco-friendly stationery, natural petal confetti cannons, plant-dyed ribbons and a British wool fedora hat. Additionally, the locally grown or foraged flowers were naturally dried, prepared foam free and carefully designed to be reused throughout the day.

SUSTAINABLE STYLING

When it comes to sustainable wedding inspiration, that includes choosing the right dress. Cambridge Vintage Bridal supplied a gorgeous 1970s vintage wedding dress with a frilled hem and delicate lace layers. Look how it floats through those meadows! Hair and makeup artists, The Powder Box, are also local to Cambridge and only use cruelty-free products.

Sustainable wedding inspiration can require some forward planning for details like locally sourced flowers.

Initially designed pre-Covid, this shoot aimed to show how much personality and flexibility can be on offer for small weddings, which are often a more sustainable option too.
