If there’s one thing Maddy & Charlie know how to do, it’s throwing a wedding that is equal parts effortlessly stylish and full-throttle fun. Their big day at Recommended Venue, Elmore Court was a wedding packed with a full-blown, joy-packed celebration of their love, their personalities, and, of course, their English bulldog, Sid (who, in a tiny tuxedo, may have stolen the show). With a classic-meets-modern aesthetic, an unshakable dancefloor presence, and a colour palette inspired by a pair of designer heels, this wedding was nothing short of iconic and all captured by Recommended Supplier, Patrick Partridge Photography. The couple also found their wedding saxophonist, via Recommended Supplier, Alive Network Agency.
We have to give a huge shout-out to our photographer, Pat! He captured the day so beautifully and perfectly. He made everyone he spoke to or took photos of so comfortable; I feel this is really reflected in the photos, they are stunning.
Maddy & Charlie
Elmore Court, with its timeless grandeur, set the stage for a wedding that perfectly blended old-school sophistication with Maddy & Charlie’s contemporary flair. The gents went full James Bond in tuxedos, complementing the couple’s choice of a classic VW Karmann Ghia as their wedding car. But just when you thought this was a black-tie affair, in came the hot pink and red explosion of bold florals, punchy decor, and a styling scheme inspired by a stunning pair of pink and red velvet Jimmy Choos gifted by Maddy’s sister. Talk about a fashion moment!
Maddy took the DIY approach to their stationery and table decor, an effort she may have questioned during the many, many hours of prep, but one that paid off beautifully in the end. Think swirly heart menus, hot pink bows, and painstakingly sourced vintage glass candlesticks (thank you, charity shops!). Meanwhile, the bridesmaids rocked mix-and-match pink dresses because comfort and confidence were top priorities, so long as they stayed within the pink spectrum, of course.
And let’s not forget the floral arrangements, a stunning vision of red roses, orchids, dahlias, and anthuriums that made the venue pop. Their florist clearly understood the assignment: bold, fun, and just the right amount of over-the-top.
Despite ominous weather forecasts, the sun miraculously broke through just as guests arrived, casting a heavenly glow through Elmore Court’s windows as Maddy & Charlie said, “I do.” It was the perfect bit of wedding-day magic, setting the tone for a celebration that would be nothing short of unforgettable.
With music being a huge part of their lives, the couple curated the ultimate soundtrack to their day. Maddy walked down the aisle to James Blake’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” they sealed the deal with Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” and made their triumphant exit as newlyweds to Jackie Wilson’s “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher.” If that wasn’t enough, their first dance to Arctic Monkeys’ “Baby I’m Yours” was swiftly followed by a second dance (because why have just one?) to Madness’ “One Step Beyond.”
The drinks reception on the lawn saw guests sipping Pimms and enjoying canapés, all while a saxophonist set the perfect vibe. As night fell, the dancefloor became the epicentre of the party, with Maddy & Charlie firmly planted there all night, so firmly, in fact, that they completely missed out on their evening food of cheese toasties served from a vintage van. If there was one regret of the day, that was it.
Their cake was a vintage Lambeth-style masterpiece adorned with sparkly cherries, proving that even the desserts were dressed to impress. And let’s not forget the signature cocktails: Pornstar Martinis for her, Spicy Margaritas for him, because no great party is complete without a personalised drinks menu.
I always knew that pink would be the theme, but when I was gifted a pair of red and pink velvet Jimmy Choo heels from my sister and decided they would be my wedding shoes, I found myself basing the whole styling around them.
