What’s your style of photography?
I call it creative documentary: a mixture of reportage and portraits with an artistic edge.
What’s your favourite thing about being a wedding photographer?
Speaking of the genre, wedding photography feeds my soul because it’s varied and challenging while offering lots of opportunities to be creative. Every wedding is a new adventure. In terms of the job, the best thing is the joy of it all. Cheesy as it may sound, a wedding is a celebration of love and it’s wonderful (not to mention a stonking honour and privilege) to be part of that. And when my couples are moved and delighted by their photos because I’ve nailed the mood of their day, this also makes me uber happy :)
Do you do group portraits?
Yes I do (otherwise what will Nanna put on the mantelpiece??) I recommend keeping them to 5-10 combos to keep them quick and painless, and will send you a questionnaire before your wedding so you can tell me who you want in them.
Do you photograph details?
Yes. I prefer to capture details in their natural habitats (rather than artificially arranged as a flat-lay etc). But yes, part of my job is making a beautiful record of everything you’ve put thought, creativity and love into for this day.
Can I hire you for a shorter day?
Yes - small can defo be beautiful! I offer photography by the hour (minimum bookings apply).
Fantastic wedding photographer! We wanted mostly natural, un-staged shots of us and the guests at our wedding and luckily we came across @taketheheart. We immediately loved the photos we saw on Emma's website – they really captured the moments of the day in a candid, beautiful way. Emma was great to work with from start to finish; she went through our day in detail, listened to all of our requests for each phase, made suggestions where appropriate, was flexible with timings and basically just tailored the whole service around us. Highly recommended!
Emma's friendly, professional manner made our big day a dream. We wanted plenty of pictures to document our day but didn't want to spend all our time posing for photos when we could be spending time with our guests. Emma listened to our needs and helped us strike the perfect balance. She so impressed our guests that one booked her for their own wedding shortly afterwards!
Emma was so lovely to work with, we are both very camera shy and she was great at making us feel calm and make taking the photos fun and special rather than daunting.
When we initially booked Emma we were attracted by the understated yet no less elegant and beautiful look of her wedding photos. What we got was somebody who supported us through multiple pandemic-related cancellations, somebody who really listened to us and understood us to the extent she felt like a friend rather than a vendor on the day itself, and most importantly, a collection of photos that we’ll treasure forever and that truly reflect the warmth and fun of our long-awaited wedding day. We were so impressed by Emma’s professionalism and talent and can’t recommend her highly enough!
Oh these are SO lovely Emma. Absolutely spectacular! Tash was crying at seeing them. We had the most wonderful day - it couldn’t have been more perfect. Thank you again for making it so special and going the extra mile to get such fabulous shots. (Loving the symmetry!) You are a complete star!
