A Claire Pettibone & Floral Delight

Whenever we share romantic, feminine weddings with you lovely lot, they always receive lots and lots of positive comments here on the blog and via social media – so I just knew I had to share this achingly pretty shoot brought to life by a whole host of our Love Lust List recommended suppliers with you this afternoon.

What I love the most about this shoot is that all of the decor and styling ideas are totally achievable and covetable for your actual wedding day – yes sometimes we like to share inspiration shoots that are totally dreamy, much more editorial and *probably* unrealistic for the big day – but sometimes we like to show you what can be achieved on your big day, if you put your trust and vision in the capable hands of some of the country’s best wedding suppliers…

The Styling

Pumpkin Events: For the styling, props and decorative accessories the team at Pumpkin Events were keen to incorporate the secret garden theme in conjunction with their elegant and luxe signature style.

On the courtyard, a little sparkle was added to the scene with use of a sequin backdrop behind a summery selection of cocktails. Outdoor drink receptions are ever popular with weddings in the warmer seasons, with this in mind the team wanted to highlight how the grounds at Birtsmorton Court could be utilised. The drinks reception was styled to continue the theme right through from the ceremony to the wedding breakfast. A little celebratory glamour came from a mirrored cocktail trolley embellished with decanters and beverages for all to enjoy whilst the courtyard provided the perfect shaded area for drinks tables to be scattered all around. The ideal area for some relaxed celebratory drinks.

To represent the Wedding Breakfast, an effortlessly romantic table was placed under the shade of two trees, with views of the house and moat to the rear. Pumpkin Events chose a natural fawn linen to use along with more natural tones for the napkins and chair decor, to tie in with the it’s local surroundings. A number of accessories in golds, coppers and bronze were scattered along the table with the addition of a pop of colour from Yellowstone’s floral stationery and posies from Passion for Flowers. The overall look aimed to reflect the peaceful yet gorgeously romantic atmosphere that Birtsmorton Court is renowned for.

The Cake

Cotton & Crumbs: I wanted to create a romantic cake dessert table for the shoot at Birtsmorton. Dessert tables are incredibly popular with brides at the moment. We decided on a colour scheme of blush and soft pink with peach and gold accents. There was a selection of cake pops, cupcakes and macaroons to accompany the main cakes in matching colours.

The Paper Goods

Yellowstone Paper Works: My watercolour stationery for Yellowstone Paper Works is totally bespoke for each bride and groom which means they reflect the style and atmosphere of each Wedding. This stunning day at Birtsmorton Court was a pleasure to represent and I loved painting the incredible house and moat! The pale creams, blush and corals were a refreshing palette to work with and matching my florals to those of Passion for Flowers and Cotton & Crumbs cakes, really helped pull the details together. Daffodil Waves captures the day beautifully. “

The Flowers

Passion for Flowers: For the quintessential English setting at Birtsmorton Court we created natural looking flowers with flowing designs. The inspiration for the flowers in The White Garden came from a visit in the spring we wanted to add a little colour but reflect the beauty of the gardens in May. Flowers for the large urns included tall spires of delphiniums, scented white lilac, blousy garden roses and of course peonies with a mix of lush foliage.

For the arbour we created a garland with a mix of willow, eucalyptus and asparagus fern filled with peonies, garden roses and stocks. The hanging flower balls were a mix of roses. For the first bouquet we designed a relaxed free form bouquet brimming with flowers including garden roses, helebore, scented lilac, astilbe and ranunculus with clematis and willow foliage, finished with trailing silk ribbon and cute photo frames. The flower crown had a delicate mix of ranunculus, spray roses and lisianthus.

For the second bouquet we designed an elegant peony bouquet with touches of English stocks, simply bound with ribbon. Blooms from the day were continued in the table plan, dessert table and ceremony flowers.

The Beauty

Chloe McCall: After seeing the beautiful dresses in the flesh then the styling & flowers being put into place, I decided to keep the first makeup look soft & natural. I started by using MAC strobe cream then MAC face & body foundation to give the appearance of a dewy glow to the models skin. I created soft golden brown smokey eyes using the Mac Cosmetics Warm eyeshadow palette. Individual lash inserts were used to make the lashes appear naturally fuller. I finished the look by using a Bobbi Brown lipstick in bare pink which is a beautiful nude pink tone, the perfect nude for any bride to be.

For the second look we decided to go more glam with hair & makeup and used some show stopping sparkly accessories from Glitzy Secrets. I darkened the eyes and really smoked them out using MAC eyeshadow in mystery, more liner was added to give more definition to the eyes. A stronger looking lip was needed with this look so I opted for MAC lipstick in Cosmo.

The Bridal Hair Specialists: The stunning feminine Claire Pettibone dresses played a huge & crucial part in my hair style decisions. Both quite similar, yet different in tone and feel. So I used that in my creativity. The first dress was softer in colour being lighter ivory with tones of pinks and greens slightly through the back. To me this oozed fresh femininity so I chose a curly plaited waterfall down the models back, with lots of texture. A style that incorporated the incredible flower crown that Karen had made, beautifully. The second dress was rich in tone. A deeper ivory/champagne, adorned with gold detail. For this dress I imagined, and created, a more mature, sexy, slightly tousled classic pleat. I felt this gave the dress and the model a completely different feel, and look, and set both looks apart. I was lucky enough to have the incredible accessory company, Glitzy Secrets, send me 3 boxes full of jewellery, which we used for the second look. A stunning antique gold headpiece and matching bracelet. This turned the classic hairstyle into a perfect bridal up-do.
