Inspiration

They say that life is better in red and Emma is here to prove it in her stunning red wedding dress with delicate colourful floral embroidery. What a moment! Emma & Matt’s wedding at Ufton Court was all about embracing who they are and saying to hell with tradition. The couple had an autumnal maximalist wedding with bold jewel tones like those sapphire blue bridesmaid dresses from Recommended Supplier, Rewritten Bridesmaids, and plenty of personal touches to make it special and unique. Although they’d already legally married in Scotland seven months before, the couple wanted to have a second bespoke ceremony with a lot more friends and family in attendance. Even with more guests, the wedding still felt intimate with Emma’s cousin marrying the couple in a romantic hand-fasting ceremony with personalised vows. The whole day was captured by Recommended Supplier, Jodie DC Mitchell Photography and the stationery was by Recommended Supplier, Wild Moon Stationery.

Try not to get too distracted by wondering if you should do something and focus more on whether YOU want it. This really helped us evaluate what we did and didn't want from our wedding. Do we want favours? No! Do we want the cake to be spectacular? Yes! I also think we didn't talk about our wedding plans much with a wide group of people - it meant we weren't getting loads of different advice (unsolicited or otherwise). We had a few people we could rant at or use as a sounding board. I almost treated it like a surprise party for our guests - I loved seeing their faces throughout the day going ‘Ahhh!'.

Emma & Matt

Red Wedding Dress At Ufton Court

Emma & Matt tried to incorporate aspects of themselves into the wedding at Ufton Court to make it unique. Every single element of the day was chosen deliberately with this in mind. Of course, the star of the show is Emma’s red wedding dress! Though shocking to strangers, this made complete sense to everyone who knows Emma. Of course, Emma & Matt’s beloved cats were part of the day in some way too with cool cat cake toppers and illustrations of their cats on the signage. The couple also had personalised name cards with Polaroids of every guest and one or both of the couple. Though this was no easy feat, especially when you're two months out realising you don't have a single picture with you and your best friend…

Autumn Maximalist Wedding Theme

Although Emma & Matt married at the barn at Ufton Court, the wedding didn’t have the usual characteristics of a barn wedding. The couple had colourful banner signage and a bold colour palette of jewel tones with luxe gold accents. When Emma & Matt initially started planning, they really wanted their day to be fun above all else. The couple found that Pinterest was really helpful to not only guide them with inspiration but to share with their suppliers too. That way everyone was on the same page! Small touches and details throughout the day were so important to Emma & Matt. Emma designs newsletters as part of her job, so they had a wedding newsletter as well as nods to Matt's love of Lego throughout.

Emma: My favourite moment was our ceremony - given we were already married I didn't expect to feel quite so emotional! But something about my cousin marrying us and having so many loved ones in the audience, there was a sense of gravity to it!

Matt: I really enjoyed having the sweetheart table and being able to look around the room, taking it all in together. Each table was a flower that had a corresponding Lego flower for each table to build, he enjoyed everyone coming over the give us the flower for the bouquet vase we had.

Emma & Matt

Our favourite thing about Emma & Matt’s wedding at Ufton Court is how true to the couple it is. Who said you had to wear white on your wedding day? Certainly not us. We’ve got a collection of our favourite coloured wedding dresses with everything from pink to black! Emma & Matt decided to have a wedding content creator on their wedding day so that they could get access to wedding photos and videos straight away. What is a wedding content creator? We’ve got all the answers you need including pricing, the benefits of having a wedding content creator and so much more!
