Inspiration

Amy & Sim’s late autumn wedding at Recommended Venue, Sandon Manor, was a sublime fusion of love, creativity, and unparalleled style. Every detail of the day was meticulously self-styled by the couple with their backgrounds in fashion and design. Amy & Sim have been together for almost 13 years! Being together for so long, meant there was so much of their relationship they wanted to showcase within the day. The couple got stuck in with plenty of DIY projects! They also wrote their own vows and both made speeches. They also had mother-of-the-groom and maid-of-honour speeches to make sure the important female voices in their lives were heard. With 11 bridesmaids and loads of groomsmen, the couple struggled to keep the guest list small as they wanted to celebrate the important people around them as much as their love!

Sandon Manor wedding with a stunning bespoke wedding dress and mismatched bridesmaid dresses

It’s hard to name one specific moment as it was genuinely the best day of our lives, but an unexpected highlight of the day was the actual ceremony itself. We didn’t expect to feel such emotion from our guests. Throughout the whole thing, they cheered, laughed and cried along with us. In that half an hour it took to make things official, we couldn’t have felt more loved. We walked outside, got handed a bottle of beer each and then just screamed in disbelief and excitement, not only that we were married, but how incredible it felt.

DIY Wedding at Sandon Manor

Sandon Manor provided an enchanting backdrop for Amy & Sim’s dream celebration, where they, and 18 of their closest friends and family, revelled in stylish on-site accommodations for an entire weekend. Amy & Sim, with their keen eye for design, sought a venue that echoed their uniqueness. Sandon Manor's diverse spaces offered the versatility they craved. Sustainability played a pivotal role in Amy & Sim’s wedding, which aligned seamlessly with the manor's commitment to re-wilding and biodiversity. As a fashion print designer, Amy always had a colour palette in mind and she designed all of the stationery and made the banner for their altar backdrop. Another DIY project was done by the maid of honour and best man who spray-painted 40 LED dinner candles!

Bespoke Wedding Dress

The journey of finding the right wedding dress was a big one for Amy. After visiting a few bridal shops, she felt defeated and her self-confidence was at an all-time low. Amy paid hundreds for appointments just to have to try on dresses too tight, being called ‘curvy’, and when she thought she had finally found the one, Amy was told she had to pay hundreds extra for split sizing and the alterations may make it look nothing like the dress she had originally tried on. Then, Amy found Recommended Supplier, Kate Rosamond Bespoke Bridal! Together, they designed a gorgeous bespoke wedding dress! Amy and Kate were always on the same page and the bride can’t thank her enough for making her feel so incredible on one of the most important days of her life.

We just love a DIY project! Amy & Sim DIY’d their banner signage and all of their stationery!

Quite simply, just do exactly what you want to do. Don’t let other people change your mind. If you want to get rid of dessert and have cookies made by your talented sister. Do it.

If you want 11 bridesmaids even though people will think you’re mad. Do it.

If you want bright green shoes and pearls in your hair. Do it.

It is the only day of your life when, even though you’re surrounded by almost 150 people, you will feel like it’s just to two of you standing there. So make sure everything about it is authentically you.
