Moroccan and Autumn themed wedding with orange wedding flowers, dark green bridesmaid dresses and tambourines in a glasshouse wedding venue.

We didn’t want to reinvent the wheel. Our priority was to have as much fun as possible and have the day reflect, us, individually as a couple. Before we began planning, we wrote down what our top priorities were and why. I think if every couple does this, it will always be unique as it’s individual to them.

MOROCCAN AND AUTUMN THEMED WEDDING

The groom is half Mauritian, half Irish and we were determined to incorporate both cultures. We also wanted to get some Autumn themed wedding decor and Moroccan decor in there somehow. Bringing a slice of Marrakech to rainy Devon. We spoke to our caterer and created an Indian inspired sharing menu for the main meal which delicious. For the slice or Irish, we had free-flowing Guinness and Jameson’s and our first dance featured a fiddle.

FAVOURITE MOMENT

I didn’t think I would enjoy the ceremony but my favourite moment was definitely walking down the aisle on my mum's arm and seeing the faces of all my family and friends. Pure joy and excitement!

DETAILS

The venue didn’t come with anything so we had to find everything! I always said the bar needed to be next to the dance floor so it always feels full. We found a local couple who made a gorgeous bar out of pallets. It ended up being a real feature! Thank you @secretgardenbohoball

Nell and Ray handmade tambourines using Moroccan ribbon and used them as the place cards on the table. The images of guests shaking them and having fun are priceless.

Before you start planning anything, discuss what’s really important to the both of you and what your big ‘do’s and don’t’ are. We also thought about all the other weddings we’d attended and what was great and what we would have done differently. That helped us narrow down venues, entertainment etc.

Nell & Ray

Nell and Ray perfectly infused Ray's Mauritius heritage and the season with Moroccan and Autumn themed wedding decor. The tambourine favours doubling up as name place settings not only looked good but provided the perfect entertainment during the reception. Such joy! We recently sold some tambourines on Recycle My Wedding. Take a look now to see more pre-loved decor and fashion.
