What Made Our Day Unique
The venue itself was an absolute gem of a find, as soon as we went there we knew it was for us -- and we were able to rent our multiple properties where everyone could stay very cheaply. As a result, we mixed up groups of people in the different houses so by the day of the wedding everyone had met new friends, caught up with old ones, and had lots of friendly faces on hand. As we were abroad everyone treated it like a holiday and were really invested in having a great time. The different spaces & venues also provided lots of opportunity to spread the party out and new places to discover throughout the day. We did the evening before at one of the guest houses, ceremony under an oak on the hill behind the house, reception at the back of the main house below, dinner in a barn, which then opened into a courtyard in the evening with another space for dancing!
Inspiration & Styling
The main souk in Jema El f’na in Marrakech was the inspiration for the wedding; colourful, warm, welcoming and lots to look at! We borrowed lots of beautiful rugs and fabrics from family who have amazing bits and pieces at home, as well as our planner - whose team hung lots of lanterns on string lights in the courtyard to create that intimate feel for the evening. We wanted it to be a really colourful day against the simple French farmhouse backdrop, and Ajna nailed the styling so the eye was drawn around the beautiful courtyards and patina stone house. We wanted a very laid back atmosphere, with non-traditional roles and setting, and absolutely got it!
