Inspiration

Jess & Mike married at the beautifully rustic Grangefields wedding venue with their 1-year-old in their arms. How amazing is that?! He had a slight meltdown before walking down the aisle, but it ended up being so magical having him be a part of the moment and in all the photos. To capture all these precious moments was Recommended supplier, Caitlin & Jones. Jess & Mike are clearly meant to be because they had a rainbow appear over them taking their couple portraits. Talk about a picture-perfect moment!

We found our suppliers through a mixture of recommendations, a heap of research and some of the Rock My Wedding Recommended suppliers. We spent the most time searching for our photographer, as we wanted a particular style, but also someone that was similar to us, and that we'd be happy sharing and enjoying the day with. Caitlin & Jones were incredible. Anyone that you can share an espresso martini with is always going to be good company!

Jess & Mike wanted their wedding day to feel like a natural extension of them. Jess & Mike knew from the beginning that they wanted to be a bit more hands-on with the design as they are both designers, and perfectionists in their day jobs. The couple wanted the day itself to feel quite natural and relaxed. With a natural wildflower style for the bouquets, bare trestle tables and mismatching antique bottles, they've certainly achieved that. They also had a hand-written notecard for every guest. Jess wore a jumpsuit for the evening disco and a pair of pink fluffy slippers that were perfect for the dancefloor.

DIY Wedding Flowers

The biggest DIY project of the wedding was the wedding flowers! The couple grew over 200 stems in their own garden with cosmos and dahlias for the bouquet and old English roses for the confetti. Jess & Mike used a local flower grower that kept them both up to date on the process of growing and hit the brief perfectly. They also got some friends and family to help along put all of the bouquets, buttonholes, and 70+ table vases together. The couple had a cheese tower instead of the traditional wedding cake. But they did have a traditional sparkler send-off for some magical wedding photos.

Looking to add that personal touch to your day? Why not grow your own wedding flowers?

Just after toasts and speeches, as the sun was setting and the rain had stopped, our photographers pulled us outside for a sunset shot and managed to capture some of the most magical photos with an angry sky and rainbow as the backdrop. We'd battled the weather all day, and they found the perfect moments for us to have quiet time to ourselves before heading back into the party. That and the aisle of sparklers, that Caitlin & Jones had quietly arranged for us. It was so magical.
