Inspiration

Sophie & James’ wedding day was an 80s dream of colour and nostalgia mixed in with some of the best DIY you'll ever see at Recommended Venue, The Shack Revolution. With so much colourful decor from the DIY rainbow streamers, custom banner sign and bright flowers, the 80's vibe this couple wanted was complete with funky movie stationery designed by Sophie herself! The bride is a talented Graphic Designer and that certainly shows in the details of this amazing day! Especially with her bridal outfit, Sophie wore detachable puff sleeves, a pearl bridal hat and a pearl veil from Recommended Supplier, Ashley Wild Bridal. The incredible Recommended Supplier, Mark Horton Photos, captured this fun-filled day.

Rainbow streamers for 80s theme wedding at The Shack Revolution

We planned our day to be a huge party, rather than a wedding, that not only celebrated our marriage but also all of the people and the things we love. We made an entire weekend of it, staying in a big house with 20+ of our family and friends, and it was pure chaos! But in the most wonderful way.

Rainbow streamers for 80s wedding

Sophie & James wanted their day to reflect them completely. What that entailed was a total explosion of colour with rainbow streamers, artwork and little nods to all of their fave things. The couple knew that they wanted an 80s theme to match their vibe. By doing a lot of DIY, they could make their wedding day completely bespoke and it ended up being one of their favourite parts of the planning process! For their reception, they had an epic live 80s band and a comical cake cutting moment with a tiny knife to cut their cupcake. The band played all the bangers with some of the best lights and sound. Sophie & James were over the moon and never left the dance floor! The venue was decorated with personalised movie posters, nods to Mexico with mini maracas and a free drink scratch card for guests.

Pearl wedding hat

Now, the fashion at this wedding is something we just have to mention. The bridesmaids wore dark green bridesmaid dresses which reflected James' suit colour and his incredible tie from Recommended Supplier, Peggy and Finn. Whilst the groomsmen were dressed in sharp grey suits. We’re obsessed with the darker colours of the wedding outfits compared to the bright and vibrant decor! It looks stunning! After the ceremony, Sophie & James had the perfect confetti moment thanks to Recommended Supplier, Flutter, Darlings!. Because the couple didn't want any formal family shots, they achieved a more candid look and their photographer could capture more of the decor. For their candid couple portraits, Sophie took off her sleeves and grabbed her white pearl bridal hat! So chic!

Mr & Mrs bibs, custom cocktails, and dinosaur stationery! This couple made their day a true reflection of their personality

We have so many favourite moments, but our first dance to Purple Rain by Prince (performed impeccably for us by Miami Vibe, who learnt it, especially for our first dance) is something we won’t forget.
