Inspiration

A Wes Anderson inspired wedding you say? We’re into it. You may have seen his work lively and colourful work in films like ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ and the ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, but you ain’t seen nothing yet! Hannah & Gordon initially intended to have a surprise wedding, but due to Covid, changed their plans and told their in-person guests. Wanting a chilled and relaxed vibe, they opted for a first-look moment and an evening ceremony. Their decor was DIY alongside mid-century modern, eclectic styling, mirroring Wes Anderson’s films. We love how bright and bold this beautiful day is - not to mention those incredible couples portraits, beautifully captured by Recommended Supplier, Kirsty Mackenzie Photography. And with a Gift List supplied by Recommended Supplier, Prezola? Wes Anderson inspired wedding

We were planning on having a surprise wedding, however due to Covid, we decided last minute (a month before), to tell our in-person guests. We still managed to keep it a secret for everyone tuning it at home, under the guise of an engagement zoom party. When they logged on it was our wedding ceremony! We are both Wes Anderson obsessives, so that was naturally our theme. We loved searching for mid-century modern bits and pieces to mix and match for our decor.

VIBE

Big fancy weddings with lots of pressure scares us both, and it didn't suit who we are as people. We wanted a really chilled and relaxed vibe. For this reason, we had our wedding in the evening and only told our in-person guests. It was tough keeping it secret, but worth it so that we could focus on what was important.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS

Because our wedding was in the evening, we decided to do a 'first look' during the late afternoon, so we could take photos in the daylight. After our first look, we met our immediate family in the park for some bubbles - this was a highlight for us both. My Dad married us, which made our ceremony extra special and we loved that too.

How gorgeous is Hannah’s brightly coloured bouquet!? Obsessing.

Throw out the rule book! From the beginning we decided we only wanted to do things that mattered to us, not because it was tradition. We didn't have a bridal party, but included our close ones in other ways. Our wedding breakfast was pizza from a van and our ceremony in the evening. We didn't tell most of our friends that we were getting married. We loved that we felt we had cheated the system and got to do the wedding our way!

When a Wes Anderson inspired wedding comes along, you know it’s going to be good. We’re loving the vibrant colour scheme, which is something you shouldn’t be afraid of when planning your big day! If you’re loving Hannah’s bold bouquet as much as we are, but are unsure where to begin on the floral front, don’t panic, we’ve made it easy for you
