Show me the Way to Cinnamon… Part 1

Well it is rapidly becoming the Contemporary Cool week here at Rock My Wedding and I am loving the city chic thing we’ve got going on with this next wedding carrying on the theme. I seriously heart the Brides whole ‘look’ in the wedding I’m about the share with you. A bit of kick-ass cool yet still as feminine and sexy as they come, with wicked smokey eyes and a gorgeous Maggie Dress, Victoria totally Rocked her wedding day to Elliot.

Victoria and Elliot were married last August at The Old Library, Dulwich College in London and then held a very individual reception at The Cinnamon Club. All the fabulous images were captured by Elton Mogg.

The Look

I don’t often wear my hair up and so wanted to go for something that looked styled but still quite natural and to still look like me! I had my hair swept to one side, with a French plait at the back to hold it in place, with tousled curls hanging down the front.

I wanted quite natural make up with a hint of purple on my eyes to tie in with the aubergine theme and false lashes to add a splash of glamour and emphasise to my eyes.

At the time, my friend worked in a photography studio and knew someone who did hair and make-up for the client’s occasionally. I met Mel on a night out and she said she’d do a hair and make-up trial for me and I loved the result. She’s free-lance and runs her own business End Zone Image. She’s very experienced and had done a lot of brides previously. Mel also did my bridesmaid’s hair & make-up and my mum’s make up too and they all looked amazing. Professional hair & make-up makes such a difference to the photos and it lasts all day!

The Dress

My dress was Phillipa by Maggie Sottero and I bought it from From This Moment, on Kingston Road, in Ewell.

I found my dress on the 1st and only day I went wedding dress shopping. I had tried on about 30 dresses of all different styles and kept an open mind. I fell in love with THE dress as soon as the shop assistant showed it to me and loved it even more when I tried it on. It was the only dress that reduced me, my mum and friends to tears and I knew it was the one.

I have a petit frame and as this dress is figure hugging it complimented my figure, the fish tail shape at the bottom was quite unusual and the lace detail. I often like to go for something different rather than conforming to something more traditional. I had the dress altered to have a sweet-heart shape around the bust rather than being straight across, which suited me much better.

The Accessories

I wore a gold tiara from John Lewis, with diamantes to match the detail in my dress. I wasn’t keen on having any hair accessories initially but one of bridesmaid’s suggested I try some tiara’s on with the dress and in fact it finished off the look nicely.

Veils look lovely on some brides but I just didn’t feel they suited me at all. My dress was quite fussy with the lace, pearl and diamanté embellishments so a veil would have been over-kill.

Jewellery I kept to a minimum because of the detail on my dress, my something borrowed was my mums pearl stud earrings.

The Shoes

I wore skyscraper heels with platforms. They were peep-toe sling backs, with diamanté detail by the toes and buckle. In flesh/gold coloured satin.

I don’t like the traditional shoes in bridal shops and I wanted high heels as I am only 5ft 3” and my husband is 6ft 1”. I wanted there to be less of a height difference between us so that the photos turned out well.

The Groom

Elliot wore a Tailor-made, fitted dark/navy blue suit with 2 buttons and purple lining to match the theme from A Suit that Fits. He accessorized with a white cotton shirt, aubergine tie and handkerchief from Dessy, the same as the bestmen and finished with black lace up brogues from Topman.

Elliot and I are not keen on the traditional top hat and tail and so Elliot went for a classic fitted suit. Elliot wears suits very well and as this one was tailor made it fitted him in all the right places. He looked gorgeous!

I love this wedding, particularly the super cool and contemporary photography by Elton Mogg and the chic and simple accessorizing from Victoria. Check out those curves!

Pop back tomorrow for more of the thoroughly modern reception, the whole wedding party aboard a red bus and what Victoria has to say on flowers, cake and music.

Yours Truly,

Rebecca xoxo

Oh god….I get serious dress envy every time I see a lace fishtail dress – I had to decide between my two favourites, a lace fishtail and a slinky fishtail…and went for the slinky – am now seriously doubting my choice after seeing this wedding….stunning
