A Whimsical Fusion.

Pinar and Rich

Pinar and Rich married at Salomons near Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent on a glorious summer’s day last year and then partied on down at Falconhurst Estate near Edenbridge.

Pinar and Rich’s reason for choosing their reception venue is hopelessly romantic. They told me that they chose Falconhurst because it has the most amazing garden of flowers and fields that go on for miles and look as if they connect with the sky.

How beautiful is that.

As Pinar is strongly connected to her Turkish Cypriot roots, both she and Rich wanted to create a wedding that reflected both of their cultures. The result is a glorious fusion of Turkish decadence and English charm.

Watters Irina Wedding Dress

Tulle And Trains

Pinar The Bride: Despite visiting lots of fairs, second-hand shops and online stores, I still hadn’t found anything until six months before the big day when I came across an amazing bridal store called Blackburn Bridal in Blackheath.

Mandi and Sama from the store were so honest with their opinions which made the process so much easier! As I didn’t know what style suited me or what I really wanted I’d tried on a lot of dresses but it was only when I got to Blackburn Bridal that the dresses seemed to begin to make sense.

I finally chose a Watters dress called ‘Irina’ with a long veil. It was the small details of the flowers that were made up of intricate beading, as well as the layers and layers of the dotted tulle making up the dress and its amazing whimsical long train that I loved.… View the full post.

Dolly Daydream.

Our final (and I’m guessing favourite for many of you) Dolly……. Madam Daydream. And as much as we can turn our hand to the Rock Star/Pop Star styling I think this is where Rock My Wedding excels – the PRETTY.

There’s no denying that this look has some gorgeous gowns but actually, what we really wanted to show you guys is how to accessorise on a teeny tiny budget. We realise not everyone has a W-day money tree growing in their back yard ( oh and if you do can we come over for tea?) and more often than not the “finishing touches” get left until well, exactly then……the finish. The point at which Mr bank account is flashing an angry shade of red and shouting at your subconscious NOT. TO. BUY. ANY. MORE. JEWELLERY.

Ahem.

Or maybe that’s just what happens to me.

:-)

Not just for rockers the William Chambers Camillia headpiece also comes in this more traditionally bridal shade of creamy ivory, perfect if the thought of real blooms in amongst your tresses doesn’t appeal.

The dramatically precious earrings from Glitzy Secrets are exactly the right mix of relaxed romanticism, a steal at £32.00 and the colour-pop coral bracelet is even more bargainous at just £3.00 from New Look.

Let’s talk knitwear. Cute yellow cardigan type knitwear. Perfection for the Spring bride who may want a little bit of a cover up to keep out the chill of the evening air or just to update her W-day look from day to night.… View the full post.

Dirty Pretty Things.

You wouldn’t believe how many times the RMW team get asked “What’s your blog’s style?” as in, what kind of weddings do we feature.

Well the answer is and isn’t straight forward. We don’t have a set “requirement” for the type of Big Day that we post, we above all promote variety and we like to offer a whole range of inspiration to our readers, how could we do that if we just stuck to one particular theme or genre?

Having said that we do always seek the pretty, the startlingly in-your-face-story-book-princessy-shimmering kind of pretty, the eclectic, fashion-forward, sophisticated and chic kind of pretty, the rustic, outdoorsy, flouncy and romantic kind of pretty……

Uh Huh folks. We adore ALL pretty things here at RMW HQ.

However, what we also have a huge appreciation for is what is perhaps the not so obvious kind. The colourful, gritty, edgy and sometimes downright dirty kind of pretty that may represent a couple more than any of the above.

Rock My Wedding reader Steph is marrying Chris at the end of this month, not only do they exude cool ( Steph literally smoulders for the camera) but they have also expertly written about their upcoming nuptials and plans for their I-can’t-wait-to-see-it reception to share with you gorgeous lot.

Take a moment to enjoy the urban eye candy. And another to really really make sure you are planning the wedding of your dreams, not someone elses.
