Wanna know what the biggest wedding trends are for 2022? Of course you do! We share with you our list of fashion-forward designs, colour predictions, and ways to make your wedding more sustainable. Pen, pads and pinning fingers at the ready, you're not going to want to forget these ideas in a hurry.

All The Speeches

We’ve seen brides embracing speeches over the last couple of years. But now, it's speeches all around. With the increased popularity of popcorn speeches (take a number and pop up when it’s your turn) seen at smaller weddings, guests are given the opportunity to say a few words about the couple. We love this idea but a quick tip if you opt for this; put a time limit on the additional speakers. You don’t want them encroaching on much-awaited dancefloor time.

Tropical Flowers

When it comes to wedding flower trends for 2022, think tropical flowers; orchids, colourful anthuriums and birds of paradise. Also, coloured pampas grass and gypsophila flower clouds in jewel colours. Weddings are bringing colour back big time.

Pre-Loved Wedding Decor And Fashion

Sustainability is going to be huge in 2022 weddings. We have seen a 350% increase in searches for brides looking to sell their wedding dresses and an 80% increase in those looking to buy pre-loved. This has been reflected in how couples are using our pre-loved marketplace, Recycle My Wedding. Items sold and listed on the platform have doubled in recent months. From fashion to decor there is always something that can be re-worn, reused or upcycled and made your own.

Statement Headwear

Metallic crowns fit for both queens and kings, an abundance of hair slides and hats. All the types of hats. Headwear is going to be a big deal in 2022. We saw brides going all out during their smaller, more intimate micro weddings and they set the tone for things to come.

Groomswear. It’s important. No longer is it left until the last minute. We’re predicting that we’ll be seeing real statement suits coming through from all the wonderful men we feature on our pages. We’d put money on tuxedos in all colours and prints hitting weddings everywhere next year.

Vertical Arrangements

We’ve seen moongates flourish and hanging installations have a time to shine, but for 2022 we’re predicting a rise in vertical installations. Think gravity-defying florals and grasses used to frame your altar and top table.

Wedding Dresses

Late 2020, early 2021 paved the way for the short wedding dress. And we think that trend will continue far into 2022. You can count on the addition of more coloured wedding dresses too; think pale pinks, light blues and gentle lilacs. We also predict that frills and flamboyance will be big in simmer 2022. Get ready for ruffles and all the layers.

Outdoor Receptions and Outdoor Dance Floors in the UK

Couples are going to be taking their dancefloors and receptions outside in 2022. Dancing underneath the stars is going to be a big hit, with alfresco midnight snacks thrown in. Hopefully with restrictions lifted, and celebrations getting back to pre-pandemic, prepare for dancing on tables too - we’ve got a lot of time to make up for.

Anniversary Receptions

Many couples adopted the ‘marry now, party later’ approach in 2020 and early 2021. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of ‘anni-ceptions’ or part 2 celebrations in 2022. A chance for bigger, emotional, meaningful gatherings will bring with them more incredible decor, the re-wearing of wedding outfits, or indeed a chance to splash out on entirely new ones. A second chance to celebrate love and marriage. And that’s what weddings are all about.

Wedding Party

We're already one step ahead of you when it comes to your bridal party. Having already put together a fabulous round-up of satin bridesmaid dress inspiration. But, what we're also noticing is more and more mixed parties, with groomsmaids and best girls. We also love the addition of pets at weddings. After all, they are an important member of the family.

BridgeRton Wedding

With the return of Bridgerton season 2 on Netflix on Friday 25th March 2022, we're predicting a surge in blue inspired weddings and refined decor and details. Think candelabras, elegant cakes and showstopping florals.

Entertain Me

When it comes to entertaining guests on your wedding day, couples are thinking beyond the DJ, further a-field than a band, and hiring drag acts, flame throwers and more. Now, what a show that would be?!

Gift Lists

With postponed wedding dates in 2020 and early 2021, we saw a big increase in our real couples registering for gift lists. It's the fun part of wedding planning that couples can dip in and out of throughout the whole planning journey. Taboos around asking for gift lists are lessening because we all know that everyone takes a gift to a wedding. Having a gift list makes that process easier for both couples and guests alike, it’s safer and a great way of surrounding yourself with memories of your day. If you would like something different then your guests can contribute to memory-making with honeymoon or experience donations or if you prefer, a charity or charities of your choice.

Some wedding trends last the test of time and some pale into insignificance. We'll be here, continuing to share the latest trends, offering advice and inspiring you along the way. But, as always, it's what you and your partner like that's important. It's your day, your way. Always.
