Autumn you dear friend how we absolutely adore thee. Your colours, your textures and your preservation of life. Just like animals who are renowned for creating cosy places to hibernate in and stock up on food to see them through winter, RMW recommended supplierEvents by Design, has put together this incredible haven in a barn complete with dessert table. She’s perfectly combined rustic with luxe to bring you some truly amazing Autumn wedding ideas. I for one am in love with it all, including the brides black wedding dress and Fedora hat.
This shoot demonstrates that you can have a luxe wedding in a rustic setting. Couples who want something personal and intimate but also like the idea of injecting elements of luxury need not choose a venue or décor which immediately ‘fits’ their brief. Playing with contrasting colours and textures creates something original and exciting!
“Being a stylist, I adore breaking a few rules. I love that contemporary brides have so much choice in their selection of non-traditional gowns and when I saw this gorgeous black number from Shikoba Bride, I knew that I had to showcase it. I wanted to create a personal shoot which combined luxurious rich tones and modern couture against a rustic barn setting. The detailing and gutsiness of this gown complete with on-trend fringing and a daring thigh-high split inspired me to create a concept full of contrasting textures, metallics and shapes. This gown has an air of sophisticated-cheekiness, and so it was important to showcase that element in some of the other non-traditional choices that were made, such as the accessories and jewellery.” – Sally Gallis
BARN WEDDING VENUE & STYLING
“Patrick’s Barn is an intimate venue, with a huge potential to host weddings which embrace the English countryside. Being a working farm and brewery and the timeliness of the shoot gave me the inspiration to create a wedding breakfast with Harvest at its heart. The Garden Chef took this idea and not only created a fantastic ginger cake with salted caramel dripping and adorned with seasonal fruits but also created a banquet of pies and English tarts and puddings all with a rustic homemade feel. To also add surprise and humour and being in-keeping with the barn setting, the traditional cake topper was replaced, of course, by cows!” – Sally Gallis
Autumn Wedding Ideas
There are so many wonderful Autumn wedding ideas you can explore whilst planning your wedding. Firstly, this fabulous season lends itself to one of the most beautiful colour pallets, including burnt orange, brown (yes people brown is beautiful), and all the earthy neutral shades in between. And let’s not forget all the textures. Sally and her team mixed dried flowers with living adding depth to every floral design with amazing results. They also used metallic candlesticks and vessels, plus, wool rugs and wooden frames to compile the monumental altar and tablescape. If you haven’t pinned every single image by now what are you waiting for?
INSPIRATION & STYLING
“Rustic elements from the old wooden beams, the sawdust floor, old brickwork of the walls and the corrugated iron roof can be seen through the tones and textures in the florals and the homemade pies. This is juxtaposed by the luxe stationery, silk fabrics, high-end table decor and the contemporary gown. Opulent metallic detailing brings together the warm, rich ochre and coral tones, and the soft neutrals and delicate dusky pinks soften the palette and draw together the cooler colours in the barn.” – Sally Gallis
Every good party should include food, and no wedding cake fits a rustic barn setting better than a semi-naked cake. Especially when it is dripping with caramel sauce and laden with sliced fruits and berries. Equally tantalising are all the pies and pastries on the dessert table proving food is both a feast for the eyes and stomach.
