Camilla & Justin

Well this wedding is certainly a lovely way to start the week!! Camilla is a wedding photographer, whose engagement shoot we had the pleasure of featuring last year. Knowing Camilla’s style, and after seeing her gorgeous woodland engagement shoot, we just KNEW her wedding to the very handsome Justin would be spectacular. And it REALLY is!

Camilla looks glamorous and oh-so beautiful in a golden sequinned gown. The pair were lucky enough to use outbuildings at Camilla’s parents house to hold their reception and the rustic yet elegant decor is simply delicious. There’s also a tea station, a Wedding Bake Off dessert table and some seriously epic light up letters.

Shot by her good friends, Helen Cawte and Hayley Savage, this truly is a gorgeous wedding and definitely reaffirms the fact that every girl needs a full length sequinned gown in her wardrobe.

The Dress

Camilla The Bride: I knew I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress, being a wedding photographer I felt that I had seen so many beautiful dresses on my Brides but for my wedding day I wanted something completely un-weddingy! I didn’t even go to any dress shops. I saw the dress on Pinterest and contacted the Project D head office. They told me that the dress was a couple of seasons old so was unfortunately not available any more, but amazingly a few months later they emailed me saying they had found a sample in my size and did I want it?

When it arrived I tried it on in my bedroom and it fitted perfectly, the only alteration needed was to shorten it. I then added a beautiful belt from Etsy and my wonderful friend Helen leant me her Jenny Packham headband which just completed the look. My Mum also bought me some beautiful Jenny Packham earrings to match.

The Groom

Justin bought his suit from Hugo Boss, it was the first one he tried on and he just loved it. His shirt was from River Island, he chose it because it was a bit different from your average white shirt. His tan shoes and belt were from Jones and the tie was from Hansfords. I also bought him some silver scrabble letter cufflinks to wear on the day.

The Venue

I had always dreamed of getting married at my family home so it was a no brainer. I grew up in a beautiful old farm house which had some very handy outhouses which we were able to use for the eating and dancing rooms. The ceremony took place in Edes House, Chichester which is a beautiful grade 1 listed building. My Dad drove me, my Mum and the Bridesmaids to and from the ceremony which was amazing, his frantic tooting at anyone and everyone was hilarious and made me completely forget my pre wedding nerves! We just loved the rustic feel of the farm and when it was decorated it look stunning.

The Decor

Our colour scheme was cream, gold and lilac. We tried to stick to this when decorating the farm but in some areas it went a bit out the window. We had a very rustic/festival theme to the day so there were lots of haybales for the guests to sit on and we had an outdoor lounge area with sofas, a lamp and a coat stand. A lot of the décor was salvaged from our parents garages like tea chests which we turned upside down for tables! Most of the decorations were hand made. I absolutely loved getting crafty and it added a really personal touch. Doing everything ourselves made us feel so satisfied when it all came together. We agreed that our favourite moment was arriving at the farm after the ceremony and seeing everything in place, know ‘we did this’ was very special.

The Flowers

Our flowers were done by the amazing Spriggs. they made the beautiful bouquets and button holes. The rest of the flowers were delivered the day before the wedding for us to arrange ourselves. I asked them to bring as many white flowers as possible for us to put in green glass bottles which we had collected. Arranging the flowers was one of my favourite parts of the wedding prep, me, my Mum and my Bridesmaids spent the afternoon before the wedding making the flowers look pretty, it was wonderful.

The Wedding Party

Our bridesmaids wore white maxi dresses from M&S, my amazing Aunty who adjusted my dress made them belts from the off cuts. I also bought them vintage Topshop shrugs to wear when it got cold. The boys all wore their own suits but had matching ties.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was just amazing, it was so much more emotional than I expected it to be. I walked down the aisle to a piano version of our first dance played by a good friend of Justin’s, everyone was in tears! One of our readings was little poem from a card that I had given Justin and the other was ‘Instructions For Life In The New Millennium’ by The 14th Dalai Lama. We walked back up the aisle to Mr Jones by The Counting Crows.

The Entertainment

We are so lucky to have so many talented musician friends who played throughout the day. My brothers band played a set before first dance, they were awesome and we were so so proud of them. Music is hugely important to us and everyone who performed completely blew us away, we cannot thank them enough for setting such an amazing relaxed tone on the day.

The Food

We had a hog roast for dinner which was scrumptious. Instead of a wedding cake we had a Wedding Bake Off for which our guests brought home made cakes. We were completely overwhelmed by the effort that everyone put in and the cakes tasted amazing, we were eating them for days after!

The Photography

The incredible Helen & Hayley photographed our wedding. These girls are close friends of mine (Helen is my business partner) so even though I knew they would do a brilliant job they completely surpassed our expectations. We are so, so happy with our photos, they are just awesome and bring back so many happy memories of our day. I should also mention that Helen gave birth 4 days after and Hayley a couple of weeks later so hats off to them!

Advice

Advice to future brides and grooms: Leave plenty of time for any DIY projects and make sure you take the afternoon before the wedding off to chill. If you’re having a wedding at home get a coordinator to run they day, Gemma was invaluable on our day and made everything completely stress free. And lastly make the most of the day, it goes so quickly so soak up every single moment.
