Inspiration

We've been seeing a lot more earthy wedding ideas recently. And we know how much more conscious you are to be as sustainable as possible. All of those golds, oranges and terracotta; we are 100% here for them. Recommended Supplier Poppy Perspective was involved in this gorgeous, sustainable laid back editorial shoot that encompasses all of those earthy wedding ideas and ways to have more sustainable flowers for your wedding day.

Earthy wedding ideas in a neutral setting with bohemian touches and pops of metallic gold

We had six major design elements for the shoot: the ceremony, tablescape, furniture vignette complete with a swing and vintage hammock, invitations/paper goods, bar & catering display, and the cakes.

CLAPTON WEDDING VENUE

The venue, MKII, is located in the Clapton neighbourhood of London on a quiet, residential street. It was formerly a Turkish rug shop that was converted into an event venue. As soon as I saw it I knew it was absolutely perfect for my vision of the shoot. It is a very bright and airy space with loads of natural light and provides the perfect neutral setting to make any design pop beautifully. There are fun and quirky details all over the place, including a vintage piano, swing, spiral staircase, an abundance of green plants, and a geometric wood focal point near a working fireplace.

Sustainable wedding ideas

The ceremony design incorporates four gold star chairs, rugs and natural lanterns provided by The Boho Shack. We paired these with plenty of candles, and animal-inspired accents (we loved the bronze cranes). The pampas grass used throughout comes from the London Zoo and the trachycarpus palm fronds are indigenous to the UK, you can’t get more local than that!

Sustainable flowers

Ash, Founder and Owner of The Nagundo Tree, uses sustainable practices throughout her work. She grows her own flowers with no pesticides, and eliminates any plastic or carbon emissions. Only reusable materials are used for her installations, including moss & chicken wire instead of floral foam. Everything has a final life in an artistic way or used as compost for the soil.

Formal gowns, capes & casual dresses are all the perfect match for this relaxed laid back wedding vibe

Our advice for anyone wanting a similar look is to not shy away from bold design and make sure to have an eye for the little details. Those make all the difference.
